I come from an artsy family. My mother owned a small arts and crafts store that I worked in since I can remember. Even though it's been closed for decades, I can't imagine life without some kind of art project going on. My sister is an artist too, and she teaches art at a blind school. Imagine that! My brother is an artist, but doesn't admit to it. lol! I am trying to get him to trade ATCs with me.
I work full time, and go "garage sale-ing" on Saturday mornings. The single best place to get art supplies! That way, I am not afraid to experiment or "waste" my good stuff. I have a lot more fun that way.
I am a married mother of 3 (two by marriage), my youngest is 16. 4 grandkids.
I just started making ATCs in October 09. What a wonderful way to experiment and have fun-- the size is perfect.
I started an art journal too. That is very freeing for the creative part of me. I can create without worrying who will see it or if anyone will like it. As a result, I feel like some of my best work is done there. Also maybe, because I try to express emotions visually... which is really what art is all about. Hmmmm...
Anyway,
I also love doing: Ceramics, Polymer Clay, Watercolor, Cardmaking, Markers, Needlefelting, Zentangles, Mosaic, I could go on and on....
The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. It's a huge work, with history, romance and time travel. Diana's characters are so realistic and loveable. It takes a long time to read her books, and so when I finish one, I feel like I miss the characters.
I also enjoyed the Janet Evanovitch series. Laugh-out-loud books!
I listen to a lot of books on tape while I drive to work. Makes the drive enjoyable.
Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Gone with the Wind
I used to read lots of self help books, but I switched to doing art instead. Much better!
All kinds of music!! Older R&B, classical, New Age Zen meditation, rock and roll, Swing, Salsa, Reggae, and just a little country to keep me from being toooo happy.
I especially love colors associated with the ocean - any blue to blue-green imaginable. I think I may have mermaid blood in me!
But I am also attracted to vivid rainbow arrays, and pastel compositions.
God - Especially His sunsets, and clouds, and Grand Canyon, and coral reefs... :o)
My mother - Especially her desert scenes
Monet, Michaelangelo (of course)
Dana Driscoll (check tarotofthetrees.com), Mary Englebreit, Debbie Krueger, Kathleen Dustin
No doubt: AVATAR. A beautiful movie. Appealed to the artist in me... I wanted to paint/draw everything in it!! And a great story too. Worth twice the price to this penny-pinching artist!
Forest Gump It's a Wonderful Life, Dr. Zhivago, Pay it Forward, Appocolypto, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, that Will Smith movie, 7 pounds
Hardly watch it. If I do, no time for art!
But I am watching LOST. Glad it will be over this year finally!!
Animal Planet HG TV

Thank you SOO much for the hand drawn Houston skyline - you're very talented and I am so pleased to add it to my collection of favorites!
OK, I was just leaving a forum post about how gripey I am about the low quality of ATC swap returns I've been getting. Then I thought of the AMAZING stained glass window card you sent me in December and it made me feel better :) Thanks again for one of my favorite cards!
I absolutely adore the ATC you sent me for the WTA Game #2. The "Village of Lori" is so precious and perfect! It is, and will always be, one of my favorites of my growing collection of ATCs. I really love it. Thanks so much Barbara!
