I'm in my late 20's and beyond blessed. I have married my best friend and after a long wait I have the sweetest, spunkiest little boy who, like his dad, will do anything for a laugh. My son and I love to spend our days at the park, doing yoga (loosely lol), or chasing our cats.
Our first babies were the cats and dog - all girls. Billie, Fancis, Tuna George, and Peaches. All cat-sized, and all friends. Thank goodness.
We live in Dallas, Texas and absolutely love it here. There was a brief time in our lives that we were packing up to move to Colorado to start a new adventure and were very clearly called to stay here and have had zero regrets. I have faith that all things happen for a reason.
I have never been a big reader but have always had the desire to be. I'm drawn to non-fiction, but read fiction as well. If there is a book you have absolutely loved please share it!
Lately most of my reading comes in the form of picture books. My son absolutely loves "All the world" by Liz Garton Scanlon, I highly recommend it.
When it comes to movies, I'm a sucker for a good chick flick, I love musicals, I like action but HATE James Bond and 007, and I have a love-hate relationship with horrors.
My top 3 favorite movies are:
Hello Dolly
Singing in the Rain
The Great Gatsby
As for Television, I'm into real crime shows. I've burned through all seasons of "Who the [bleep] did I marry" (actual name lol) on Netflix. I love Psych and Monk, but also love Orange is the New Black, Sherlock (BBC), and Bates Motel.
I likes challenges so you will often see me on creative swaps that are newbie friendly - I'm slowly working my way up the swap-ladder ^__^
Art: I enjoy working with pastels, acrylics, and pen. I have a background in fine art but don't often create for myself.
Sewing: I recently did a stuffies swap here and had a fantastic time creating a whale. he was so precious I was a little sad to give him a new home (but he was loved by my partner so its okay). I also successfully made crib bumpers so my son would stop eating his crib. Basically I'm a new sewer but comfortable with my machine. I've worked off patterns in the past without problem. I hope to learn quilting soon so I can join swaps doing quilting squares.
Jewelry making: I have a ton of supplies. I really wanted to get into this but don't have a heart for it. I have lots of pieces laying around, completely unused that I'd love to pass along. Same goes for beads, charms, and such.
-ATC - I love the creativity that has gone in to the ones I have received so far. I'm completely open to themes
-bird everything! - Specifically song-birds. I have a growing collection of bird figurines. I seriously have a love for anything and everything with a bird on it.
-postcards - I'm a sucker for cheesy touristy ones, but am open to all
-magnets - this is more out of a need than a fondness for magnets (lol), just no freebies (they typically aren't strong enough!)
-notepads - I use them all the time, I can't have enough
-pens/pencils
-Candy - I love runts, nerds, smarties, sprees... Not a huge fan of hard candy, but don't hate it
-Chocolate - mmmm chocolate
-nail polish
-nail stickers
-headbands
-bows for my cats - I have a cat that prances when wearing bows. For other cat lovers, you understand
-recipes - please only ones you have tried and liked. I'm always on the hunt for new dinner ideas, especially slow cooker meals.
-reusable shopping totes - freebies okay here. I like to avoid using disposable bags when possible
-art - my favorite finds have been inexpensive finds at Goodwill. I appreciate effort. The heart put into a piece can make it so beautiful.
-jewelry - no earrings (I'm annoyingly allergic), I love minimalistic, understated pieces.
-cross stitching - a skill I do not have but would love to learn. I love animals, flowers/floral, houses, bible verses, sayings...
-funny socks - new of course.
-scripture - reading anything that has spoken to you lately I'd love to hear it. It doesn't even have to be of Christian origin. If it moves you, don't keep it hidden, share it
-key chains
-blank cards w/ envelopes - this comes in very handy. I love to write my grandmother letters. We also try to make our mother proud and always send out thank you letters, so cards are a wonderful, and much appreciated, item. Well-made handmade are welcome!
Things my little boy likes:
-bright colors
-monkey anything
-animal postcards
-board books
-stickers
-coloring pages/books
-cars/trucks
-lotions & perfumes - I'm unfortunately sensitive
-in the summer nothing that can melt please
-caffeine (if I happen to join a swap w/ tea and all you have is caffeinated please just give me a heads up- I don't expect you to go out of your way for a single teabag).
-dye-cuts, rubber stamps, stamp pads... I'm just not into those sorts of things.
I figured it would happen eventually, I was flaked on. so to keep things straight I'm keeping a list:
Marlann N (mamabear2) - flaked on April Peg Doll Swap. said she shipped it twice. she is now partially suspended.
mamameshach hosted the swap, and even after telling her I was flaked on and suggested putting ratings on her swaps she didn't protect people in her next peg doll swap so mamabear2 was allowed to join the may swap and flaked on 2 more people.
Comments
Oh, okay since you mentioned it I can now see that she is a flower; but she could be a strawberry too. Maybe I see that because I like eating strawberries. Thanks again....I hope there will be another Peg Doll swap soon!
