Description:

I've changed this swap to an image transfer method of your choice. As long as you've done the work of transferring the image yourself and it's transparent you're good to go. I'll include some more links to other methods you may consider in addition to the clear packaging tape one. I've had interesting results with gel medium too - this is basically clear acrylic paint that is gloss, varnish or matte. The rest of the guidelines are the same. I will include the new links here;

This has all sorts of tutorials for various image transfers - even video tutorials! These are so cool! http://www.squidoo.com/imagetransfer

You will create three ATC's for one partner. A series of sorts where each ATC relates to the other in some way - colors, subject, mood, etc. The challenge is to incorporate at least one image transfer on each ATC using the packing tape / clear contact paper method described here; http:// www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Photo-Transfer-With-Packaging-Tape

Please don't sign up for this unless you are confident in your artistic ability and know you can and will spend at least an hour creating wonderful miniature art for your partner. Image transfers on ATC's (or any paper project) can produce some beautiful works of art. If you haven't done it before you're bound to be hooked! Sender's choice so you can begin now if you'd like! Have fun, be creative and send something you'd love to receive.

Can you tell me exactly what kind and brand of packaging tape to use. There are so many to choose from. I went to the above link and they didn't specify the kind of tape either. Thanks

As long as it is clear packing tape I don't think it should matter the brand. I use regular Duck brand. I'm thinking of making this a 'any type image transfer'. Sometimes packing tape doesn't work as well as say clear varnish coats that have dried. Let me look into it. Thanks for the question!

Thanks to this swap, I learned how to do the clear-packing tape transfer techniqe! Thank you! And you're right....I'm hooked :D

that"s awesome, Chelsea! I'm glad I could be of help! I have a feeling whoever gets you for their partner will be thrilled with their art. :)

Is it ok to create the background using an image transfer technique and then add more embellishments?

magentapink13 07/ 9/2011 #

PeasAndPearls; definitely. As long as there's an image transfer on your card you should embellish to your hearts' content! :)

The link to the packing tape technique has a space that may not work in your browser. Try this: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Photo-Transfer-With-Packaging-Tape
