Description:
A shrine can be dedicated to anything- a person, a place, an event, an idea, an object, a time period, a color, a source of inspiration- anything. For this swap, using a small (32 count) matchbox, you will create a shrine for your partner, based on their profile. This is a good reason to have a fully filled out profile- if you don't, your partner won't know what to make for you. Google matchbox shrines for ideas. A good place to start: http://www.hobbyloco.com/shrines.html At the bottom of the page are links to a description of what they are, some examples of what they look like, and even a template you can use if you don't have any matchboxes. This swap is international. This swap will start in the new year, and you will have a full month to create one shrine- plenty of time. So if you won't be able to mail it out on time, please do not sign up. If this goes well, I'd like to do more of these. If anyone has any ideas for future shrine themes, please list them below.

I am so thrilled to see an old fashioned matchbox shrine swap. I hate the matchbox fill swaps! I would much rather see the inside decorated in a creative way, than to have the matchbox filled with a bunch of mostly useless, small items!

I'm thrilled to be in this swap! I've been creating shrines for about 15 years now, but not on such a tiny scale! (I've used the larger matchboxes, but not the little ones.) One question/concern--this may go without saying, since you've already said it has to be from the person's profile, but because of my religious beliefs, I feel the need to express it: whomever gets me, please don't try to convert me, and I won't try to convert you, okay? The purpose of this swap is to try to create something that your partner will like, based on their profile, not based on your own interests. This is to share art and is for fun. It's not intended to offend anyone. So to answer your concern Cobalt Gypsy, if someone sends you something trying to convert you, they are NOT playing by the rules!

Shannon- Partners will be assigned January 1st, and you will receive an email telling you that they have been assigned.
