This is a swap for members who are just beginning to learn certain skills. All members are welcome to join, but please keep in mind that this may be your partner's first effort - so please be kind when rating and providing feedback. (";) The tutorial we are going to use for the mug rug is HERE. It is deliberately a bit wonky so we don't have to worry about getting it perfect! You will note that this is a tute for coasters. I chose it because it is much simpler to follow and make than the tutes I could find for mug rugs (most of which are pieced and bound, which I think is too difficult for a first try). So we are going to use this coaster tute with one important difference: Instead of cutting your 2 fabric pieces 6" x 6", you will cut them 7" x 9". You will use 1/2" seams and will cut your batting 61/2" x 8 1/2". This will give you the right size for a mug rug. Please use 100% cotton for the outer fabric, and check your partner's profile for colour/style preferences. Of course, you may use a patterned fabric - it does not have to be solid like the tute example. Open to all NFS members in good standing anywhere in the world.
