Going to open up that Q from @aubreysmom for debate -- I think it could be an issue of quality, since there are some pretty miserable pics that can come from home printers ... also, since we have all of May to get 5 pics developed, it seems reasonable, even if you have to make arrangements and don't have ready access to a photo lab ... but that's just my take on it, so hope those of you signed up for this swap will weigh in with pros and cons and your preference, to get a consensus in next couple of days, thanks!

Well I really have no say as my printer is out of ink. But I really think that photo's should look good but swaps should also not eat into our pockets too much so if your printer can give out quality photos then maybe give people the option. But only if there printers can spin out stuff equal to shop printed. So that is my input and ty for letting me give my 2 cents worth

i agree with what @crfatycol said above. personally, i rarely use my printer for swap photos-they are never quite as good, plus use alot of ink & ends up costing more than the great prints i can get at dozens of local stores for between 9 - 30 cents each.

I agree with @Craftycol as well! I have a professional printer that is high end, but it's because of what I do for a living. The images are $1 a page to print, but I do two photos at a time. So, it's worth it. If anyone knows about Kodak printers then they will understand. This is a laser three color system printer, and I have an Epson Pro that I also use. So, my images are quality and I would be happy to receive them in the mail as well. The image are archival in addition to being great prints.

I also agree with @Lauriez though - my other normal home printer that I use to print letters and proofs of illustrations or brochures are not something I'd use for swaps.

So, I say honestly look at the image you print on your home printer - be very unbiased and see if you'd want that image in your mail from a partner - if yes - go for it.

I have a good home printer like @NikonGoddess an Epson Artisan 810) and have used it before without a problem or complaints. Of course if it was low/out of ink or not working properly, I would go somewhere to have them printed. I never spend a lot of money on this & usually go to the self-print kiosks at CVS. I've had good luck with them.

I don't have a problem if swappers are allowed to print at home for this swap. I would hope that we all use common sense & send only what would be acceptable to receive ourselves (duh!) Then again, we can always use the rating system if some of us don't send quality photo cards.

BTW, living on this side of the equator, in Minnesota, I should be able to also say "happy spring," but it continues to snow here ...

As many others above have said...The key here is if you have a "Photo Printer"..not a color inkjet that you put photo paper into..sorry not that same.

Common photography sense just needs to kick in...does my printer lay enough ink down?? is my computer & printer calibrated for correct color output?? do i get those un-sitely streaks?? (if so then it is a definite NO)... Send what you would love to receive plain and simple...

I personally own Epson & Canon Photo printer...i never print at home..I have found it is way more cost effective for me to go to the local lab and get my prints for usually about 9 to 12 cents a print...and i do not have to worry if it is considered good quality..just my 2 cents

Wow! Didn't expect to raise all this commotion! I've been in these swap before printed at home on my photo printer, and my partners haven't complained so I was just trying to clarify for myself. I agree with iLovemail about using common sense and would definitely only send if the prints were nice. I put a lot of time and thought into all of my swaps and definitely don't want to disappoint.

Well, about something like this, as host, I think it's best for participants to decide! I am a lucky-ducky, as even though Ritz Photos has closed lots of locations, there is still one nearby. I did modify swap so those that choose to print at home are welcome to do so!
