Kool-Aid is a brand of cold drink mix (primarily for kids) in the USA. Usually fruit flavored, they traditionally come unsweetened so you add sugar and water to make the drink.

Yes cool-aid or kool-aid is an unsweetened drink mix. I use it to dye wool. It works great! I use to drink it as a kid but wouldn't touch the stuff now! My mom use to make us popcicles from it. If my partner can get BLUE I really would love blue-all blue! They discontinued it here in CA. I also like the odd flavors (colors) like 'tamarind' , or secret swirl where a cherry flavor has a 'magic switching' color (usually blue!) There are also some generic brands like flav-r-aid. I haven't used them to dye with but I'm sure they would work great too.

(I have a link in my profile (website) that has a tutorial on how to dye wool using kool-aid in the microwave. Feel free to check it out!)

My daughter was telling me the other day that they don't sell koolaid in Europe, it's next to illegal because it's so bad for kids... no nutrition, just sugar.
