Description:

Hi, there! Come and learn to crochet with me! This will be a series of swaps if there is interest! We will each have one partner and crochet a small item/project using this month's technique somewhere in the pattern!

Important to note: Beginning and seasoned crocheters are welcome to join!!! BUT please be sure before signing up that you are able to crochet the technique! The item you make and send is up to the sender so you can get started right away on your project to make sure you can do it! These are not all easy or beginning stitches, so please plan accordingly.

Any pattern and yarn is acceptable! Dishcloths, granny squares, scarfs, stuffies, ornaments, slippers, etc. The possibilities are endless. It would be great if you could send along the pattern you used as well, but this is optional.

(USA only please, feel free to create an international similar swap. Seasoned swappers only. At least 4.9 rating or higher and 5 rated package swaps completed. You must have signed in to swap-bot at least 2 days before the sign up date.)

Here is a tutorial on the single crochet stitch: http://crochet.about.com/od/learntocrochet/ss/Single_Crochet.htm

And/or watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqhaQQajt0U

Upcoming stitches in the series:

Double crochet

Half double crochet

Picot stitch

Popcorn stitch

Cable stitch

Shell stitch

Slip stitch

Front post double crochet

Knot stitch

X-stitch

V-stitch

Picot

and etc. (any more I come up with.)

This is a wonderful idea. I just started learning to crochet 2 months ago, so i still dont know a couple of those, like the cable stitch. Ive never come across that in any of my books, but i love learning new things!! I hope this does become established, I would love to see all the fun things people make.

Hello, is anyone interested in doing a private swap with me in the UK?

Xandoz 02/28/2011 #

@Marinda Would you consider doing this as aninternational swap?

papercrafter23 02/28/2011 #

This is a wonderful idea! I am just learning to crochet too!

AngieDawn 02/28/2011 #

@rosiefsw PM me, I'll be more than happy to do a private swap with you.
By the way I'm so excited about this swap. I'm not a beginner but I'd love some practice on the more advanced stitches...

anyone interested in doing this swap as regional? (i am in canada)

marinda 02/28/2011 #

I'm so sorry @Xandos I have no plans to make this an international swap. :-( But, like I said, anyone can create an international version!

Love this idea :) If I can manage to finish a whole pattern before the sign up date, I'll join this one! Don't want to commit to something I won't be able to finish. Thanks for hosting this ^_^

Wow. I didn't even know you can make cable stich in crochet. I will definetely join, when swap for it comes. I wonder, if we can do cable crochet in the round...

Momskii 03/11/2011 #

Wow, it says come and learn crochet with me, and then after it says these are not all easy or beginning stitches. If you are a beginner, it's going to take you awhile to perfect all these stitches, more than just one swap

Saucyknits 03/12/2011 #

@Momskii -- I believe those other stitches are for future swaps in the series -- probably one or two per swap, so you have a while in which to learn

area51ufo1 03/12/2011 #

yay amigurumi !

marinda 03/12/2011 #

@Momskii This series of swaps are for various crocheters of all abilities. I, for example, have never tried a crochet knot stitch. But I am ready to learn. If you can only learn to do single and double crochet, then only join those swaps and don't join the others. I have listed the swaps I intend to start up later in the series, so that crocheters (beginning and more advanced) can try them out before they decide to sign up.

P.S. Thanks for your response @Saucyknits ! You are correct. :-)
