Description:

I know this is a little early to be planting (or planning) your garden, but how about a seed swap.

All you do is send 2 packs of your favorite vegetable seeds and 1 pack of flower seeds to your partner.

Hopefully by April the stores will have the seeds out.

Maybe for now this should be for the USA/Canada. Maybe someone can start another swap for your country or region.

(I had to edit this swap for now-didn't realize that sending seeds to other countries could be a problem. Could have been interesting to sample seeds from other places).

Aren't there a lot of restrictions on sending seeds and food materials to some countries? Some countries (in Europe, I think) don't accept any kind of seeds that might be genetically engineered. This could be a problem. How can we know if our partners can receive these? I know you can't mail anything like this into Australia and New Zealand. Maybe it should be a US only swap? Cyn

I was thinking about getting seeds that don't grow very well in your area and that maybe each person should put what ZONE they live in. Also list favorite seeds they are looking for?

Awesome swap idea!!! I love the purple dragon carrots and other weird seed starting plants. Looking forward to it!

love the idea as well. and yes the international swap might be a problem. my FIL visits his home country of thailand and no seeds may be brought in or out of thailand. i do know that. i also love weird and strange plants (ecspecially hot/mild peppers!) we have grown snake melons, bishops crown peppers, peter peppers, the GIANT pumpkins, yard long beans, etc... so if its unusual, send it! :-) as for usual veggies, good ole green onions are used year round at our house!

My greenhouse is TINY so I need seeds that don't need to start in the greenhouse for long, ones that are quick to be planted directly in the ground.

So far I've done well growing tomatoes and will continue with that, but I'd love for my partner to send me something other than that, as I always get tomato start from my local nursery. I've also done well growing beans and peas. But really I could go for anything.

I live really near the Cascade mountains (can see them outside my window) so I need things that can weather the occasional out of season frost.

Really I'm open to anything!

I also agree with the others that I don't think this can be an international swap. Sad, but true.

i'll join but i think you might have problem sending some seed to different countries. Is it possible for people to put their location somewhere in their profile or check up on their restriction for their country? Am based in Scotland, UK
