Description:

Greetings! This is my first swap to host...so thank you for a least looking, and forgive my newness......

So I've had this idea for a few days and apologize in advance if I am stealing ideas from another swap I am unaware of...

Vinyl or Records are starting to come back into popularity as new artists are again pressing their music on Vinyl. So what about those old records you've had forever....maybe you have several copies of something....your vinyl is all scratched and unable to be played....maybe you dont have a turntable to play it on (get one!)....Whatever the case this swap is meant to give that old piece of vinyl a second life in another art form....

For this swap, you will have one partner, you will need one record, and as for the rest, its up to you....You can paint your record, glitter it, melt it and reshape it, glue stuff on it, "bling bling" it, break it and arrange its pieces in a new way....be creative and do whatever! I myself have never done this so I have no suggestions on what will work and what won't.

Restrictions: Don't use a brand new record, make sure its not a hard to find piece (especially if you got it at Goodwill or something), When I thought about this I had in mind using vinyl that was super scratched up and unplayable, Put some thought into this! Don't forget your going to have to send this in the mail...so it may be helpful if it can still fit in a sleeve...but do whatever...

If you have any questions feel free to email me....There may be something I forgot to cover...remember, this is my first swap to create!

The lowest rating allowed on this swap is a 4.8...If your new and haven't got your rating up yet....Hollar at me and I'll see what I can do...

Since this may be very interesting and you may find you got to try a few things to get your creative juices going...I am giving a month after partners are assigned to work on your record before you send it out....Check out your partners profile...see what their into yo!

PS..Told ya I was new....This swap is for full size 12" no 7", maybe that can be another swap depending on how this one goes!

watching! can it be 7" or 12" vinyl?

NaughtyElf 01/15/2011 #

Thanks for changing that! I am definitely in! :-)

I do not have any old 33 1/3 any more but we did this in Cub Scouts one year and the boys loved making them into chip bowls. Never, Never give a little boy bottles of paint and tell them to make their bowls special. What a mess but did they ever have fun.

Have fun ladies

Just to make sure the 12" are what they also call 78's, right? Or LP (long play) records? I want to be absolutely sure I am using the correct size. Thanks!

I am just putting this on my watchlist for the moment. I want to look around at some local DAV's and Goodwill's to see if I can find one to use first, then join back up. I want to know I have it first. Thanks!

NaughtyElf, the 12" is also referred to as an LP. I am not sure about calling it a 78.....I hope you join back up!
