Description:

I am in the process of moving into a new home, and one of the things that drew me to this particular house was the huge garden tub in the bathroom and the backyard garden. It seemed like such a beautiful place to retreat to after a hard day's work.

During the process of admiring the beauty of the place and the need for relaxation, it dawned on me that I hadn't been on a retreat in ages. Jennifer Louden (The Comfort Queen) advocates taking periodical weekend retreats right in your very own home. In fact, she wrote a whole book about it.

So...with all that's going on in our crazy lives and in this hectic world, don't you think it's time to put yourself on a retreat?

Think healthy foods, pampering yourself, taking stock of your life. Think gratitude journals, beautiful magazines (Tea Time, Southern Lady, etc.), thoughtful books. Think comfort, aromatherapy, and beautiful music. Isn't it time to indulge?

For this swap, you will have one partner, to whom you'll send a package from which they can create a wonderful weekend retreat right in their home. Read their profile, and keep tabs on the below discussion for their particulars.

All swappers will be expected to also share a little bit about themselves below. Tell us why you need (desire, crave) a retreat. You don't have to spill the dirty details...however sharing will help give your partner a glimpse into your world and perhaps ignite a spark of creativity.

Swappers, please do not make a list of things you do not want. The only thing allowed would be listing any specific allergies (for example, if you can't be around incense, you may state so!).

The value of this swap should fall in the $15-$20 range. For that reason, people with a recent history of no sends and a history of drama will not be allowed.

Here are the pesky little rules:

  • Only swappers with a 4.5 rating and above may sign up for this swap. However, if your 4.5 contains recent no sends, hasta la viesta, baby!

  • I will be paying attention to hearts. While there is no "set amount" I have in mind, I will look where your hearts fall. If no hearts, well, that shows something as well.

  • If there is no history of higher value item swaps in your profile, then you may get ousted from this swap. (Forum swappers, I believe I am pretty familiar with most of you and your swap history, so if you mostly swap there for higher value items, that will count.)

  • No newbies. Sorry guys; I know it's difficult being the new kid on the block, but as this is a pricey swap, you'll have to prove yourself first.

  • Delivery confirmation must be present on your package!

That's all! Now sign up for the swap, and get ready for your personal weekend retreat!

What a great idea for a swap! I'm sorry, but I do have a few things I really would rather not get (allergy related), please see my profile for details.

I am desperate for a retreat. I live with my partner and his 21 year old daughter who is ALWAYS IN THE HOUSE and was never made to do chores as a child. Need I say more? On top of that I have a job and am a performing artist, so I have very little down-time, I run ragged and don't take the time I need to recuperate. If you want more info please PM me. Thank you!

There's been a LOT going on in my life lately; in fact, I haven't had much rest since June, when my mom ended up in the hospital. And of course, this happened right at the moment my 9-year-relationship began to fall apart, and so therefore began looking for a new place to live. Add to the mix a sick cat, a loss of several key employees at work (which added to my work load), and several emergency expenditures, my stress level is severely maxed out!

I know my profile states "No foods," however this is what I can have: Lindt 85% Dark Chocolate bars (the low amount of sugar and carbs in this bar make it great for occasional indulgence!), chamomile tea, Vanilla Rose Decaf tea (Celestial Seasonings puts it out), and nuts (smoked almonds and pistachios are probably my favorites, but I love it all, as long as it's salty!).

The only scent I really can't tolerate is rose and other strong florals. Everything else is fair game!

Sounds like a great swap! I'm a single mom and rarely take time for myself.

I cannot take baths - they have very undesirable consequences for me!

I also get sneezy/headachy reactions to most scents, so please no lotions, candles, potpourri, etc. These things are just not relaxing for me.

Some things I would welcome: some nice Earl Grey tea, chocolate, crossword puzzle books (I really enjoy the NYT "Light" puzzle books edited by Wil Short) a good book, a good DVD, CD of relaxing music, some dishcloth cotton and your favorite knit dishcloth pattern.

If you have any questions or want more ideas please PM me. Most of my profile got lost and I am in the process of re-creating it. :(

I don't use candles. I love hot chocolate and just about anything sweet. Bath stuff is perfect, too! I prefer citrusy scents, nothing too heavily scented.

We just bought a new business and I'm running it out of our bedroom, so I need a weekend retreat away from my own room!

Knitting is my obsession and it relaxes me and makes me happy!

And I'm always up for a good book.
