Description:

We all need some inspiration from time to time, and during NaNo especially.

For this swap you will write on 100 index cards different character names, settings, plot arcs, a specific word or phrase to be incorporated, and other various forms of randomness that could plausibly be incorporated into a novel for your partner to use as inspiration when they are feeling like they've hit a particular roadblock in writing.

This should be at least partially tailored to your novel genre, if you have one already, so please leave a comment with your genre on this page. If you are undecided, note that too, please.

(Full credit or blame goes to Colleen for the name)

Only a week? That scares me, lol. I have a bunch of Halloween swaps happening, right now, but I'm almost done those I think. Ill keep an eye on this one, because I really want to join, but I really dont want to get overwhelmed, and I dont have a clue what Im doing for NaNoWriMo this year!

I'd love to participate in this, but there's so little time until the send deadline. I'll write my final university exams on October 5-7, so I'd only have two days after that. If you decide to extend the send deadline a bit, I'd be in. For now, I'll be watching. :)

LOL! well, if i'm to blame, i had better join, heehee! or should i say, bwahahahahaaaa!!! while rubbing my hands together with a wicked grin plastered on my face? ;-)

i tend to run along fairy tale themes, fantasy/adventure... i'm thinking i'll be doing a comedy/fantasy this year with fairies, gnomes, etc, as main characters. hope that helps my partner!

Pyxidragon 09/25/2010 #

I can indeed extend the send deadline. Probably work a bit better for me as well as my work schedule changed on Friday about 2 minutes before I left. :p

My genre this year is...um...zombies? How about this: Dark humor, circuses, and dead things. Yeah.

ZombieLeah 09/26/2010 #

Okies, the longer deadline makes it a little less scary! I'm in. :)

My writing tends to follow dark, scary, weird, sci-fi, horror, silly, comedic and generally ridiculous story arcs, so anything along those lines would be awesome. In other words, I'm pretty flexible. :P

I don't yet know what I'm going to write. I'll post ROMANTIC SUSPENSE as my theme though. That should be broad enough to cover whatever I choose for my project.

Iloenchen 09/29/2010 #

Thank you very much for extending the deadline! I'm in. Can I name more than one genre? Mine is young adult this year, but I write a lot of fantasy and sometimes include fantasy elements in my work. Oh, and seeing as most of my stories take place here in Germany, I'd love it if my partner didn't include any specific settings like "New York" but more something along the lines of "a huge city that never sleeps". That would be really great, but if you can't, don't worry about it. :)

@Iloenchen If your novel is going to cover more than one genre, please do. :-)

user5311 09/30/2010 #

my goal is to write a fun mystery

PenguinBurger 10/ 1/2010 #

I really don't have a genre for my novel yet. It will probably have elements of young adult and romance.

alexalgebra 10/ 7/2010 #

I forgot to post my genre! It's going to be young adult sci-fi I believe.
