Description:

I have an idea, and it is a little complicated, so let me explain.

  1. For this swap, you will print (by hand or computer) one of your original poems. It can be from a long time ago. It can be under a pseudonym. I like to use a pseudonym when writing poetry or creating art.

  2. Then you will decorate the poem in a pleasing manner. You can use collage, clipart, fancy computer paper, an ATC (if it is a short poem), or something similar. Embroidery people could stitch their poem. Make it crafty. I am calling this a type 3 swap (crafts and packages) so put some time and effort into it. Think of it as "suitable for framing." This will be snail mailed to your swap partner.

  3. Next, you will make an electronic version of your poem to be published in a little zine by yours truly. You will need to email this to me. If desired, you can send it in the form of a jpg (picture attachment to your email), pdf (file), or Microsoft Word attachment.

  • Make sure you include information that you would like to be included with your poem, such as name, date written, and email address or swap-bot name.

My email is mrs.altman@gmail.com. I will then compile the poems into some kind of publication. I'd like to make a little book. But I will have to see how many poems I get and what resources I have available. By sending me your poem, you are granting me the right to publish the poem in a little book or magazine that I create. However, you will still own the copyright to your original work. After I get it finished, I will email directions on how to get a copy of the book/zine. Most likely, I will ask you to send me a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope.

  • If you want to participate in the swap, but not the publishing part, that is ok. Just message me and let me know. *

Swappers must have NO RECENT NO SENDS, and you must have a rating of 4.5 or better.

  • If you have concerns or questions, feel free to post them below, but also send me a PM so I can be notified that there is a question. I am going to give some time for people to sign up so we can get a nice turn-out for this swap. But start working on your poem right away as it is senders choice, and once partners are assigned, I will expect people to mail pretty quickly. Also, feel free to send me your electronic version early if you have it ready.

Extras: Things you could do to make your swap extra special (but you don't have to do them to get a 5)

  1. You could frame your poem.
  2. You could write a letter explaining the reasons for the poem or the story behind it.
  3. You could draw an illustration to accompany your poem.
  4. You could add a little extra, like an ATC card or a couple quotes inside the package with your poem.

Enjoy!

Does it have to be in rhyme? I'm not too good in rhyme... and I like writing long poems.

This is a brilliant swap! I've just started writing poetry but I'll have a go. @little bear real poetry doesn't need to rhyme. It can but it doesn't need to. Unless the host thinks differently ;>)

No, it doesn't have to rhyme, and it it can be as short as as long as you want.

Great idea. :) Love this!!!

I love this idea, however, most of my poems are of a darker nature... would that be a problem?

Hmmm...I'd like to keep it pg, at least.
