Description:

I am really broken up by the news of Madeleine L'Engle's death last week. Meg Murray and Vicky Austen were some of my very best friends as I was growing up, and I was over the moon to discover the Crosswicks Journals a few years ago.

For this swap, create something that fits somehow with the theme "MLE & Me."

Be as creative as you wanna be - you can write a letter, essay, series of journal entries, ATCs, soft sculpture, short story inspired by MLE's writing, music, visual art, anything else that hasn't occurred to me yet. Feel free to put your suggestions in the comments section.

You can focus on the writer, her fiction, her non-fiction, her spirituality, whatever you want, but include somehow how you are impacted. If your project is a piece of art (rather than writing) please include a little note telling how your piece relates to the theme (for those of us who are dense).

Madeleine L'Engle was a writer of scifi/fantasy and a Christian. Some people may tend to see her through one lens rather than another, but she saw herself through both and valued both within herself. You are not required to bring this balance to your tribute, but just remember that the person sending to you may not see MLE the same way you do, and be resepectful of that difference in your ratings.

What a great swap. My copy of A Wrinkle In Time is so battered and beat-up and the pages are all bent, because I read it so many times and took it everywhere.

ok, i just gotta do this one!!! i just loved madeline l'engle!!! i kinda suspected she was a christian, since i could see it in her themes, but i never read anything about her personally. when i was in school one of our teachers read a wrinkle in time to the class, and i've loved her books ever since! i recently bought 4 or 5 of them, so i will have them when my kids are old enough for them! i know this is like a letter, but i plan something else for this swap, so i can post this!!

great swap idea, btw!!!!

Ohhhhhhh, I didn't know she'd passed away! I'm so sad. I keep a quote journal, and there are so many quotes from her in there. It certainly doesn't make me feel any happier--my aunt passed away last week as well. Looking forward to this one.

If you're sending letters or anything else email-able, I'd love to have a copy. I wonder if others would also?

beawhiz, i'm sorry this has taken me so long... (i know, i've already pmd that...) but it'll be out tommorrow, unless my hubby gets home early tonight! after that i'll post a picture of part of it (the part that isn't a letter...) and, KnittingCateling i'm going to pm you to send you a copy of the letter that goes with it... beawhiz, if find you can't read my handwriting, let me know, and i'll email the letter after you get your package.
