This swap is for people who LIKE to read banned books. If you don't like to read banned books, or think that books should be banned, please don't bother signing up. In honor of Banned Books Week (September 29–October 6, 2007) I was inspired to create a swap. If you don't know what banned books week is, check here http://www.ala.org/ala/oif/bannedbooksweek/bannedbooksweek.htm In this swap, you will send a letter or postcard to each partner. In your letter, please list a banned book that you have personally read and ENJOYED and why you like it. If you want to go for hearts, add in a small token or project inspired by your book of choice. I hope this can encourage people to read more than the books that someone has deemed "safe" for mainstream reading. The Nitty Gritty: Newbies welcome with filled out profile. No one with less than a 4.5 rating without messaging me first for consideration. This is INTERNATIONAL- Please be aware of shipping costs of a basic airmail/first class stamp. (US folks: That's ninety cents, not forty-one!) This is not a political debate. This is a swap for people who like all literature (and I'm not talking about smut, what defines smut, or anything of that genre of read) and may feel as I do- that some of the greatest literary works were unfairly censored and pulled from the shelves. I reserve the right to ban anyone at any time who can't take this as the experience in tolerance it should be. No name calling, arguments, or other hidden agendas. |
