Description:

This is for all of us that think that wandering a cemetery is the best way to pass a lazy afternoon. (And what a great spot to picnic in!) And if you're like me, you bring a camera along!

I'm a New England gal and have spent many a happy hour in the Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven, and The Burying Ground in Salem...and I have the pictures to prove it. (Like the one for this swap! This was taken at the Burying Grounds last October.)

In this swap you'll send three pictures to 2 partners. They can be taken by you, or given to you...nothing downloaded off the Web, however. Pick your pixs, print them out (6X4 minimum) and send them to your eager partners.

If you have any special requests (Christmas displays, not in America, strange headstones, etc) please leave your request in the comments section below, but keep in mind your partner will be doing their best, but may not be able to fulfill your wishes. But hey, it never hurts to try. ;-) In THIS swap, anything goes.

Usual fine print. Newbies are welcome, with well filled out profiles and swappers in good standing (4.8 and higher.) No flaking or the angels will cry, yaddi yaddi. I reserve the right to ban at will. ;-)

Cool swap but too many photos required for me. Maybe another time with 2 photos to one partner maybe?

GoingTwinsane 08/21/2010 #

I received some BEAUTIFUL photos in the last one from my partners. I am SO IN! I'm addicted!

I don't know how sending 3 pics to 2 partners is too many? Why do people even leave comments on swaps they aren't going to join?

Thank goddess I'm not the only person who loves cemetaries!! I'm so in!

sebastian122 08/21/2010 #

@GoingTwinsane no offense to thebragal, but I totally agree. I love the people who say, 'I'm watching for now...' and I'm like...yeah, and? =D Everybody's different. ;-)

@SLWebster82 It's wonderful, how many people love this swap. Frankly, I could do it weekly and die happy.

Hmm...this has given me a thought. Perhaps we (like that, we) should do an altered photo swap, JUST headstones, anything BUT headstones, pre-1800...hmm...this could be fun!

The window is open, Pattie's accepting suggestions!! =D

@thebragal 3 photos would cost the same as 2 to mail. Thanks so much for setting up this swap, I got the best photos last time. I will look at the other swaps.

Thanks Patti for organising the swap again, I will be in too, in all. I found in my holiday photomap of two years ago a serie of old headstones I made in an old Celtic Camp in France of 2000 years old. I was totally forgotten I took these pictures.

I loved the last one, so count me in again! I'm clicking on the links right now too for the other specific pics! Thanks!

This is a fabulous idea, I love cemetery photography. I have two photos that are square format though and I'd love to include them if I join the swap, would that be ok if I printed them larger than 6x4?

I signed up for all three cemetery swaps, LOL! This makes five so far...I think we'll end up needing a support group soon. We should start others, like swapping a found item from a cemetery (not anything actually taken from the cemetery itself, but a random item along the lines of things posted on the Found Magazine site), or the oldest headstone you can find, or a family member's headstone and a note about the person, a photo of a historic person's headstone in your area...I don't know, just throwing ideas out there! :) I would love for this to keep going! I think I've completed enough swaps to host one now, maybe I will give it a try...

@Pariah make a group and I'll join! I love all those ideas and I'm sure we can come up with more. =D

Three photos each to two partners is still just three photos ... just send the same three to each person. o_O And three cost the same to send as two ... or indeed, any. :-) I'm in!

SilenceDogWood 09/ 8/2010 #

Pariah - I love your ideas. I've been sending back ground info on the photos I send. So far no one has minded. I really like to know the "story" behind the headstone or memorial because everyone's life is a story. And, each person's story continues because there is usually another generation of that family.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'll start one...
