Description:

This is my first attempt at hosting a swap, so please bear with me and inform me of any major faux pas!

We love our pets. If you're anything like me, your pet is basically your child. Wouldn't it be nice to have a plush version of your beloved? One you could squeeze as hard as you wanted without fear of bites from or damage to the little rascal?

For this swap, you'll be creating one stuffed animal for one partner. The medium is entirely up to you -- crochet, knit, sew, needle felt, whatever!

But here's the catch -- the animal you'll be creating will be your partner's pet!

In the comments, please describe your pet. For example, I would say:

"I have a fat, lazy, black and white tuxedo cat."

You are also welcome to add links to photos of your pet. If you have multiple pets, you can describe any/all of them, but only expect one stuffed animal (unless your partner feels like making more).

When partners are assigned, please find your partner's comments so you know what animal to create!

Mind you, these stuffed animals do not need to be photo realistic. I would gladly accept anything cat-shaped that was black and white. Just do your best work and send something you would love to receive!

All pets are welcome! Cats, dogs, birds, iguanas, pet rocks, imaginary pets... whatever!

According to Swap-Bot rules, please remember to rate a 5 if you receive a stuffed animal that somewhat resembles your pet on time. Please do not rate down because you wanted something made of felt and they knitted, or because the spots on the dog's back are slightly askew from your real dog.

Newbies are welcome with a very well-filled out profile. For seasoned swappers, you must have at least a 4.8 average. I reserve the right to ban anyone I think looks fishy.

I'm giving two weeks for sign-up and four weeks for creating. If this time frame sounds all goofed up, haha, let me know. I can change it to whatever everyone is comfortable with.

Happy Swapping!

I have one very fat and lazy black and white tuxedo cat. His name is Kitty. (original, huh?) That's his picture for the swap, sitting like an old man on the couch.

FoxRoxSox12 07/12/2010 #

i have a red shiba inu dog and she look axactly like a fox :)

Oh my goodness, I've wanted to do this for my doggie forever but I never thought to turn it inti a swap. Fantastic idea!

One question: is there a size requirement? I'm so used to doing smaller stuffies but a bigger one would be so fun. =)

wackywallflower 07/13/2010 #

hmmm... good question @Vendetti

I would suggest that they be at least 3 inches tall, but if someone wants to make a tiny stuffy just run it by your partner and make sure they're okay with it.

OMGoodness! The Kitty in the swap's photo looks just like our Lady, except she's a calico. She definitely has lost her nice lean figure. We laugh that we should have named her Chubs! LOL! :)

wackywallflower 07/13/2010 #

haha,my fiance wants to rename him Jabba the Kitty.

evitake 07/13/2010 #

good job! awesome swap ;) just needed to say it :D

Vendetti 07/13/2010 #

Okay I definitely want a bigger one! =)

and for my partner I'll send you a link to a picture of my puppy. He was a total mutt so explaining him could be difficult. =)

has joining this swap made me cross the line into Crazy Cat Lady territory? i just found myself sorting through cat pictures on my phone to find the one that would best introduce my pet. well, ladies and gentlemen, this is Kitty Pryde (named for the x-men character), she loves moths and junebugs, and mostly hides in things (my clean towels, my dresser), but has been known to perform very respectable feats of athleticism if my husband has a tuna sandwich she thinks belongs to her. as you can see below, she is also an avid reader.

hmm. my photos showed up in the preview but didn't post. guess i can just email them to whoever gets me. sorry for the long rant with no gratifying finale.

CYNCYN88 07/13/2010 #

My dog snowy is a mix; poodle, shitzu, and a Maltese. She sleeps alot. She is white curly hair. has a light brown spot, and she has light gray but not to lights gray hair on her ears, if that made sense :)

CYNCYN88 07/13/2010 #

Is there a maximum the size of animal? Or as long if its bigger then 3 inches?

wackywallflower 07/13/2010 #

You can make it as big as you feel like paying shipping for, haha.

Hellotheremary 07/14/2010 #

This is such an adorable, adorable idea!!! :D I have a golden retriever named Keiji who I'm apart from when I'm at school, so having a mini-Keiji to squish when I'm missing him will be lovely! He's a dark golden, almost reddish. And he's doofy, really doofy. Think Dug from "Up". I'll send photos to my partner! I can't wait!

honeysucklehandmades 07/14/2010 #

I will send photos to my partner of my dog once partners are assigned! My dog is a cute annoying pug. A fawn one!
