Hey Misfits!! Wanna try a Matchbox for Beginners Swap?

I love learning new crafts and new techniques. I am fascinated how people can come up with such amazing ideas using the same stuff as me! We all like being crafty, so let's show off our style!

This swap is a for 1 small matchbox, the smaller size that has 32 strike on box matches. I bought a pack with 10 at the dollar tree a few days ago. I have seen some beautifully decorated ones here on Swap-bot and I wanted to give it a try. I have only made one, and I'm still learning, but practice makes perfect right!!

So that we can start on them right away...lets decorate/alter a matchbox on our likes and styles...NOT for the partner we will trade with. I personally like seeing items made with stuff I don't usually use. It takes me out of my crafting comfort zone and I learn so much this way. So let's create a matchbox as if you were making it for yourself! Then put at least 3 items inside, could be buttons, brads, ribbon, beads, anything that fits. Use your partners profile to fill the box with tiny things that your partner likes:))

You will have one partner for this swap. Please include the swap name somewhere to insure you get rated. Please don't rate poorly due to style, or taste. This is a fun group swap. Not to be judgemental or picky. This swap is for beginners, but advanced matchbox makers are welcome to join in the fun! Rate a 5 if you receive a matchbox on time! Be kind and remember we all have to start somewhere!

Please remember, that each person here is expecting a nice swap. Do take some time, don’t just add a single sticker and call it done. We want to see how creative you are, not how lazy you are:))

If you want to try making one from scratch, you can copy and paste the link below for a free match box template!

Just a quick note, if anyone in the group flakes on this swap, they will not be allowed to do group swaps in the future.

Thanks for the invite and count me in! I just finished one matchbook and was looking for a swap for newbies.

Yay!! I just did one the other day...It didn't come out as nice as I would have liked, so I started a new one...it's fun to experiment with new things! Glad to have you join in the fun! :))

This sounds like fun - I've never done a matchbook before - these look so cute! Thanks for organizing this! ;-)

You're very welcome! I have only made a couple, but they are pretty cute! Glad to have you join us!!

I just got mine all done:))...I think they are super cute...I did have a couple bumps...the pattern listed made the box great, but when I made the envelope it was too small, so I had to glue it , while holding it around thr box to make sure it fit...lolo...Practice practice practice...right...it was fun!! I had to make one to keep too!!

hi! i've never made one of these before, but i'm gonna give it a go.... i do have a (possibly) silly question: what's the best way to mail these so that they get to your partner unsquooshed?

MisfitScrapper 05/29/2010 #

Ummmm...that is a great question...I actually was thinking about that last night...I don't want to say it has to be a padded envelope, but I would recommend at least wrap it in tissue paper and perhaps a larger envelope, not just the bill size...Maybe put a piece of cardboard inside to help suppport it...I quess we will see once they arrive, if they survive...this is my first time mailing one, so it will be a learning experience for me too...if anyone has any suggestions please comment!! Great question!!!
