Description:

The international version of this swap can be found by clicking here

For this swap you will take one photo every day for one month (31 days). I will give you an extra week in case you miss a day.

  • What you photograph is up to you. It can be anything (as long as it does not have nudity or vulgar language - keep it clean please).

  • Print these out on photo paper OR have them printed out (most places will do digital photo prints for around 10 cents per print). The minimum size is 4x6 but you may send larger prints if you want.

  • You can send these loose, put them in a book, or put them in an album. It is up to you how crafty you get with this.

  • On the back of each photo OR on the book page of each photo, write a caption for the photo. This could be a simple description of the subject of your photo ("My cat") or it could be something more unique.

  • Put a date on each photo - some cameras have a setting that will show the date on the front of the photo, but for those of us who do not have that feature or don't like to use it, you may just write it on the back or on the book page along with your caption. Unless you print these photos out each day, you will need to remember when each photo was taken, so be sure you write it down somewhere so you will know.

  • You do not have to be a professional photographer to do this! Please do not rate down if you do not like your partner's photos. This is just to see different photos from around the country, not to showcase how talented we are. A lot of people have to use the "Auto" settings! LOL

  • You may use a program to remove red eye, remove "noise" from a digital camera, or otherwise "fix" your photo, but do not "Photoshop" it - as in, do not change the photo itself other than "touch ups".

This is my first swap like this, so please ask questions if I have left anything out.

Requirements

  • Newbies welcome with a fully filled out profile.
  • No recent 1's or 3's (last three months).
  • No unexplained 1's or 3's, either have the explanation on your profile/rating response or message me about it.
  • Ratings of 4.8 and higher only.

If anyone is flaked on, I will angel this.

F.A.Q

  • Can I add text to my photo - for example, adding a stanza from a poem that the photo reminded me of?

Yes! The only thing I didn't want people to do was to alter their photo in a program like Photoshop, and completely change the look of the photo. For example, playing with colors or adding elements that aren't originally there. Some text, fixing red eye, reducing "noise", etc is all fine.

Please PM me with questions as I do not always think to check the comments section.

What a great swap, Mandi! I wish it was international :(

Thanks! I'm making an international one now as per the requests I've received. :-)

I've received several PM's regarding that concern. Once these swaps are finished, I am going to create one (with an international and a USA only version) that requires your photos be bound in some sort of book. Also, due to concerns regarding newbies, those swaps will not be open to newbies. Keep your eyes open for the upcoming Photo-A-Day swaps! :-)

I really want to participate in this swap because I am interested in creating a kind of bound folio with the photographs I take. The idea I have in mind will not allow for a standard 4x6 photograph. My plan is to have the photos professionally printed and trim them down to approximately 3x3 (maybe 3.5x3.5) squared to suit my needs. Is this an option? I understand the necessity of a minimum size requirement, but I'd like the ability to be a little flexible to accommodate my artistic vision. I'd hate to put a significant amount of time and effort into this only to have the recipient rate me a 3 by citing the 4x6 requirement. Perhaps we can make it a guideline as opposed to a requirement? Either way, please let me know. Thanks!

@katier I've PMed you about this... The 4x6 is a requirement this round, but I will create another Photo-A-Day swap around the 1st of June and the only size requirement then will be to have your photos be no smaller than 2" on any side so that everyone can play with different sizes of photos.

I will be going thru participants before I assign partners, so if you do not meet the requirements, you will be removed from the swap. I don't want anyone thinking I am going to let people participate that do not meet the requirements stated in the description. It is just easier for me to wait until sign ups close so that I can go through the list once and remove anyone I need to. Thanks!
