Description:

So, most of you have heard that old saying "Never judge a book by its cover", right? Well, this swap is telling you to judge a book by its cover!

The swap is simple. Go to the thrift store, bookstore bargain bin, etc., and look at the book covers. Do not read the summary; just look for the most interesting book cover that you can find. You will send one book to one partner.

The book will be sender's choice, but please look at your partner's profile to make sure you aren't sending them something offensive. For example, if the person specifically says in their profile no nudes, do not send them a book with nudity on the cover. If they mention having a phobia, don't send them a book with their phobia on the cover. Other than that, go crazy!

The reason I am doing this is because I have found some wonderful authors by sifting through bargain bins and buying books with cool covers. Of course, it doesn't always work, but it is fun when I get a good one!

I will open this up to international, so be prepared to ship overseas. Please send books in written in English unless you contact your partner before sending to make sure they are okay with receiving a book written in a language other than English.

As long as your partner sends a book, rate them a 5. If you end up reading the book and do not like it, pass it on or donate it. Do not rate your partner lower because you did not like the book!

In order to participate, you must have at least 5 completed and rated Type 3 swaps. You MUST have a rating of at least 4.9. If you do not, send me a PM and I may make an exception. No 1s or 3s in the past 3 months unless you PM me with a good explanation. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for looking!

I'm a firm believer that you should DEFINITELY judge books by their covers! (Also, all my favorite books have great covers, haha).

Awesome swap idea!

I work in a bookshop: you can totally judge a book by its cover. The publishers/marketing people deliberately make clones of the covers of successful books so that the customers pick them up (on the assumption that the content will also be similar to a book they've enjoyed) - and it usually works.

The swap idea is great, though, and I'll be scouring for 2nd hand/older books, which I find far more interesting (well, less generic) in terms of jacket design. :-) Watching, at the moment.

I agree with @wackywallflower and @TangleCrafts - I ALWAYS judge a book by the cover. That's how I end up buying most of my fiction anyway. :)

If you make a USA only version, please let me know! I love this idea, but can't afford international postage for heavier items at this time.

my main problem of all these book swaps is that I just can't send a book, written in English:( It's very hard to find an english-written book in our country... Ah, what can I do??

I'm excited for this one since I was flaked on for my last book swap :D Here's hoping this one's a winner haha!
