Well, I think it is time for another zetti style postcard swap! For those of you who don't know what zetti style is, here is a link of inspiration....

http://www.teeshamoore.com/teeshasjournalpgs.html

Basically, it's anything quirky, whimsical and with a funny hat :)

You can send all originals or good quality copies. Please send your postcards "as is" - which means not in an envelope. Postcard size is 4x6.

You must have a rating of 4.7 or higher (newbies welcome) and not have any "no sends". International players welcome!

Is it one card to 4 partners?

redleppard 08/14/2007 #

you can send the same postcard to each of your partners or you can send all different - your choice :)

Hi Victoria, Do you want to specify a size for the postcards?

I make mine 4x6 (and that fits my collection album) but have rec'd ones that were 1/4"-1/2" off in either direction as well as some that were WAY oddly sized, so I'd kinda like to see a set parameter size-wise, especially as it's to be international. Thanks!

Yes, 4x6 is the recommended size.......thanks for bringing that up. I will edit the swap info.

Do I have to put in the silly dunce hats??? That's the only thing I dislike about the Teesha Moore style.

goddessofhellfire 09/17/2007 #

Hi Carroll! I think that the dunce cap is just a optional so are the stripes and text.... it's basically strange looking artsy ~esh type charecters like short & fat tall & spindly, polka dot hair, kinda think in a Tim Burton / Dr Suess type style.... whimsical & fun imaginative! Go WiLd! hope this helps!

CARROLL 09/17/2007 #

Thanks Goddess. I went to Teesha's website and was inspired... Finished all four cards today. Off they go to Germany, UK, Texas, and North Dakota!

goddessofhellfire 09/20/2007 #

Hi Victoria! I think you should have stressed this was for handmade cards or a copy of your original artwork!!! not pre- bought.... which going to Teesha Moore's sight would have explained however, there are some who jump over the point. seeing as I am laboring on my own cards & they will be originals you can understand when you recieve a pre bought or... worse none at all.... a bit of disappointment! I think if someone who may not be as artistic as another at least gives it a good try it could be more forgiving! OK. I'm done & I don't mean to be a B@$#*! but.... this is a explanation for my ratings

Gina2424 09/21/2007 #

I received a piece of fabulous original art today from Jan Williams, North Dakota!

crazyfish666 09/24/2007 #

goddess of hellfire....i agree, i was under the impression it was for handmade cards as well...my first one i have recieved was a store bought postcard as well.....

animalchatter 09/24/2007 #

Yes, goddess and crazyfish...I received the same, but don't feel that I can give a poor rating because when I look at the description of the swap, it says nowhere that it needs to be handmade.

The style that they sent was also questionable and not what I consider to be zetti, however it does qualify for this swap if you look at the part of the description that says, "Basically, it's anything quirky, whimsical and with a funny hat." That is definitely what I received, therefore I feel compelled to give a good rating.

Anyway, I know how you feel since I am handmaking mine too. (Zetti is one of my favorite styles!)

So, that's my two-cents. This will certainly make me carefully read descriptions in future swaps that I join.

Another lesson learned...

Happy swapping! Karen :)

Ok, this is the first swap I have been in where there is so much grumbling and nitpicking. I love swap-bot because there is room for everyone. Sometimes what I send is much better than what I receive. And, sometimes I receive much better than what I sent. I don't think it is fair to criticize others in this type of forum. The message center is the place to do it.
I plan to send homemade cards because I love to make homemade cards, AND I live in the boondocks where we have no access to card stores. Let's smile and enjoy the swap...

goddessofhellfire 09/27/2007 #

No, my point was when they refer you to a site http://www.teeshamoore.com/teeshasjournalpgs.html to see the work you should at least peek at it to get a reference, just like going in & reading someones profile, before you make or buy something what is the point if you don't??? it's pretty much a waste of time, money & effort! enough said. (I didn't give a rating for that reason... I not going to give a bad rating for a misunderstanding BUT I won't give a good one either Sorry!)

Mine were sent just now (had to run across the street to catch the mailman before he left!) So be watching Coorain in ME, Yael in Israel (my first ever mailing to Israel, how cool is that?), Marla in FL and Mary in MA ...

My intention was not to sound critical or find fault with anyone...I was merely trying to point out that it doesn't say specifically that these were to be handmade cards.

I didn't want to see anyone get a bad rating over a technicality or assumption.

My apologies if anyone felt that I was being negative towards them...that would never EVER be my intention.

Karen :)

CARROLL 09/28/2007 #

Victoria, Maybe next time write the swap description using the words "hand-made" instead of "original". Some people thought store bought was OK. I assumed hand-made ( my original artwork ), or a copy of my orignal art work. That might explain the disappointed comments.

redleppard 09/30/2007 #

goodness, I didn't see all the commotion until now...you are correct, I should have specified handmade....I always understood original to be handmade - my bad.

In regard to ratings...as I understand the rules, if it is received in time and complies with the swap format, then a 5 rating is given. I read that somewhere on swapbot, just can't remember where at the moment.

animalchatter 10/ 7/2007 #

Victoria, Maggie, Deb and Le_spark...your cards went out yesterday from Santa Fe...enjoy! Karen

crazyfish666 10/10/2007 #

mone went out today!!!

Kessie 10/16/2007 #

Hey mine went out today - sorry they're a bit late.

I've only just read the comments above... I had lots of fun doing these, but I'd definately prefer a Zetti swap where the rules specified that you have to follow Teesha Moore's techniques as described on her website (e.g. she does a layer of colours, then patterned collage, then the main image, then works more colour into it, then writes all over it....

Oh and all my partners agreed that I could send postcards that didn't fit the required size, as I didn't know the rules had changed since I signed up. Bigger postcards are better, there's lots more room to be creative!
