Description:

You know it happens. You do a lot of swaps, and you get a selection of lovely handmade things, things that someone obviously spent a long and thoughtful time making, things that are unquestionably nice and well-done.

But they're not right for you, somehow. A handsewn pin in colors you just never wear, a stuffie that is supercute but somehow has ended up unloved in a drawer for the last six months, a hand embellished journal that you know you'll never get to writing in, a cool pottery bowl made by an amateur, when your husband is a professional potter. You get the idea. Or maybe it's something you've enjoyed for a while, but now you are bored of it.

For this swap, you will send your partner 2 handmade/handcrafted items created by someone else, things that were gifted or swapped to you at some point(doesn't have to have been through swap-bot). Your "not quite for me" could be someone else's "totally awesome!".

No ATC's please.

This swap is restricted to people with feedback of at least 4.6, no no-sends, and at least 5 other swaps completed. (If you don't meet these restrictions but can explain, feel free to send a note and I'll consider it.)

I think this is a GREAT idea, as long as we're not sending things that are poorly made. They should be nice things, just not our taste or not useful to us.

I love this idea!! I wish i could join this one, but I havent been swapping long enough to have any of these. i usually get something of the kind from my grandma at christmas, but i have them all tucked away so far back in the closet that it would take MAJOR excavation to find it! lol. and some mountain climbing skills just to get to the door to the closet! i wish i was kidding..lol.if you do this swap again, i may join next time!

Yes, Jessie, that's the idea. Things that are objectively good quality crafting, but not to our personal liking.

I just hope no one gets back something that they hand made for someone else - that would hurt...

Good point, Terry. If you can remember where something came from, check your partner before sending and try not to do that.

I don't think it should hurt to receive something back that you sent to someone else. For a Christmas gift, yes... but not for a swap. We don't really know the people we are sending to and they don't know us. So if we get something back that is being regifted, we need to take it for what it is, just something that the person didn't have need for, but they already got to enjoy the creativity put into it.

I am thinking about joining this swap, but have to see if I have anything I want to regift. :> The only thing I can think of right off is a monster I got and it is well made. I just don't really like monsters. Nothing personal to the person who made it. Anybody want to do a one on one? Because I think I only have this one item.

Um, I was actually going to sign up for this swap, but I realized that I actually would feel a little hurt if by some random chance I got back something I'd made and sent to someone! I say this because I think I'm the person who sent that aforementioned monster. I'm not offended and I hope it finds a home where it's more to the recipient's taste, and I'm sorry it's not something to your liking. But I do know that I would be hurt to sign up for a swap and get something back that I'd made...since I was initially a little stung by the comment, which I just stumbled across browsing for new swaps.
