Description:

This will be a SERIES SWAP

Please understand that you do NOT need to be part of every series just because you participate in one. However, if you decide to participate in one of the parts of the series be sure not to flake. As business owners, you should understand the importance of follow through.I have 5 parts so far in mind for this series, and partners & type of swap will change, so please be sure to read each swap and not just join without knowing what the requirements are.

This swap is for the At Home Business Owner

So who am I talking about??

  • Sole Proprietors
  • No brick & mortar businesses
  • May have products sold in retail stores
  • Online Businesses (that's right, Etsy welcomed)
  • Retail, Wholesale, Services, Handmade products
  • Freelance
  • Direct Sales Welcome! (Mary Kay, Arbornne, Mark, Creative Memories, Stampin' Up!, etc)

I am hoping this swap will be a WIN WIN for everyone by providing possible new customers, networking, and possibly finding new businesses to buy from.

The first part of the series will be NETWORKING

1. The First Part: Introductions

E-mail the following to your partners:

  • Basic: Name, City/State, Age (optional), Years in business, Name of business
  • What made you start this business? How did the idea come about? How did you choose the name of your business?
  • What products and/or services do you provide?
  • What are your goals/hopes/dreams for your business? Where do you see it in another 5 years? If you have been in business for 2 or more years, have you been meeting your goals/hopes/dreams for your business?

2. The Second Part: NETWORKING

  • Provide your online site/store for your partners to look through (either in your e-mail or on your profile)
  • Visit each partners site and follow their blog if they have one and/or join their mailing list! If your partner has only an online store, link their store to your next blog post or directly to your site.
  • Be sure to add a comment to let them know you are following them, joined their mailing list and/or linked them. If you do all, let them know, if you only choose to do one, let them know!

Because this is my first hosted swap, I will allow for people with complete profiles to join, that includes NEWBIES. I will even allow those with less than 3, "3" ratings. If you have a "1" rating, I will not allow it. After this swap, if I find we have lots of flakers, I will be sure to get more strict on who can participate. I am familiar with things that happen in life, so if you will be late sending anything than please let your partners know! Be sure to PM me if you have any questions! I will check comments/questions better if through a PM

I don't own a business per say, but I work freelance as an illustrator and animator. I have a personal site w/ a blog, business & post cards. Would it be fine if I joined?

Miditron 04/10/2010 #

My business is still in the design/planning phase, but should be up in late spring/early summer. Should I go ahead and join, or wait and get in on the later parts of this swap once I'm already up and running?

I love the sound of this swap! I'll be watching! :-)

AnnettesREalm: Go ahead of join! I didn't think about freelance, but that of course counts. I will add freelance to the swap.

Miditron: My business is actually still in the same phase as you! I too am hoping to start in late spring/early summer. So of course you can take part. My only concern would be if you would be able to participate in the second part...do you have a site/blog?

Miditron 04/12/2010 #

I do currently have a blog, the site is under construction right now, but there is at least a blog link that people can check out and save. Working on setting up artfire and etsy accounts until I can get the site live. Looking forward to this!

I'm a newbie at this, so please pardon my unknowing of how all this works. I signed up for this swap as I have a newly started buisness. How do I know who my partners are to email the info to them? Thanks and again, I'm sorry. =)

prncess05-I decided not to ban you from the swap because I was able to look at your site. However, you should add a profile because many swaps will not allow you to swap without a filled out profile! I just assigned partners. Look at the swap and on the right side of the screen at top you will see a link for "see the partners you send to." Here this will link you to their profile (which could give you ideas about adding your profile) and look for their website link at the top part of the profile! :-) Their email address will be posted under the partners you send to. Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm gonna wait up until the send deadline to give myself some time to get more stuff set up on the site, since the business is not even up and running yet. Maybe there'll even be some items up for sale by then! --wishful thinking--

Thanks so much kaydensmommy4e!! I appreciate you giving me a chance. =) I also really appreciate you helping me out at this. I'll hopefully catch on pretty quick. I did fill out most of my profile, I took my laptop outside while at the yardsale!! ;) Are you able to see my profile yet? I just want to make sure its veiwable and I did everything right!! Thanks again, I'm very excited!!

I'm still waiting to rate a few people because the second half of the swap didn't seem to be fulfilled - "Be sure to add a comment to let them know you are following them, joined their mailing list and/or linked them. If you do all, let them know, if you only choose to do one, let them know!"
