Description:

My past swaps for this group have had a stitched only/no glue rule. For this swap, it will be NO STITCHES ALLOWED. This may be easy, or it may be challenging.

You will make 2 ATCs, 1 for each of your two partners.

  1. If it takes a needle, you can't do it. No thread or any other yarn or string will be allowed to make your ATCs, with the exception of glueing them down. And with that I am going to have to exclude needlefelting from this swap. =(

  2. Make your ATCs from fabric/fiber. A firm cardstock or chipbaord(cereal box) may be used as a base, but cover it up with your fabric/fiber.

  3. Elements, such as snips of fabric, ribbon, beads, charms, buttons and even threads and yarns, must be adhered with some type of glue or other material with adhesive qualities, ie Xyron, Wonder Under, paints, UTEE, double stick tape, wax, etc. Even brads and staples can be used. Just no stitches of any kind allowed!

Any style, any theme, 3.5"x2.5"

2 cards, 2 partners, 1 card each partner

Lucky me, I just bought some nice brads last week! This swap is a great challenge.

This is quite a challenge!

I don't knit or crochet, but are they disallowed as well? (the "no thread or yarn" and "no needles" makes me think they are, but crochet uses a hook instead of a needle, right? :^)

That's a tough question. The no stitches rule means you cannot attach or form your card using piercing stitching. Knit and crochet also have stitches and technically, the loops and chains are pierced to make each stitch. I would say yes if you made a crochet flower that would be considered an element on your card, but you would have to use something else to attach it other than stitching like brads and staples. I would say no if you knit your whole card and felted it, or crocheting the edges.
