The first swap for this went really well. Everyone made adorable little matchboxes and dolls. So I figured I'd host this again. I know I had a lot of fun doing it!

For this swap, you will be making a matchbox bed and a little doll that will fit inside the matchbox, all tucked in and sleeping peacefully for your partner when they get it! Have a little mattress, pillow, and top blanket for the doll to be tucked in with. Allow the blanket to be moved (don't glue it in) so the little doll can be removed if your partner so wishes. That way, we can admire your little doll. =) Feel free to include little this-n-thats to accompany your doll/mini-plushie that you create to accompany them on their trip. =P Little books, little stuffed animals... whatever you want.

Some from the last swap wanted to be able to kind of pick a rough theme for their partner to go on. I will do that for this swap as well. If you want to give your partner a starter point, write them and/or comment here in the swap so they can find what you would like. Some didn't want a human doll. They wanted an animal. Some wanted a certain theme. My partner wanted a Paris theme, and then left all the other choices up to me. I really liked that. =) Let your partner be creative and put a bit of themself into what they will be making for you. =) If your partner does not request a certain theme, assume the would like a complete surprise (my personal favorite way to swap =P ). If your partner doesn't request a certain theme, base your creation for them on what you find on their profile.

Include a note that will accompany your craft. Tell them something like why you chose what you did for them if you got to pick all of it. Explain your thoughts behind how you went about making their box. Show yourself through your craft! =D

Matchbox size will be a regular 32-ct. matchbox. You can use a regular matchbox or create your own (my preferred method). Click here for a template.

Please have completed at least 3 package swaps before signing up for this one, meaning that post card, letter, and online swaps will not count.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

This will be an international swap. You will have one partner. The deadline to send the matchboxes will be two weeks after the final sign-up date. Please have a 4.5 or above rating and be SURE you will be able to make the deadline before signing up for this! This would be a sad thing to be flaked on. =(

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to post them in the comments!!

EDIT (12/25): A "doll" can also mean a mini-plushie depending on how you want to make your doll. This isn't limited to a humanoid figure either.

Just letting you guys know I'll be joining this one when we get closer to the date. Haha, I have too much on my watchlist with earlier dates right now and I don't want to fill up and not be able to do everything. I'll make sure a slot is open when we get near the end of January though because I had a blast with the first swap! :-D

IlonaH 12/19/2009 #

I'd love a boyish one!

sewcrazy 12/19/2009 #

Is there a pattern for the doll

wolviechick121 12/20/2009 #

There's no pattern. It pretty much gets to be up to you how you would like to make your doll. In the last one I did, I made a little mini-plushie bunny-like thing. haha. I can email you to show you what I did and how I did it if you would like. I can show you what my partner sent me, too. It's really simple. Especially with it being so small it actually makes it easier! =) If you would like me to email you to show you some ideas, just send me a message here on swap-bot with the email you would like me to contact you with. Or just tell me you want me to just write you here on swap-bot. =) I'd be more than happy to point you in a direction to take your ideas if you'd like. =)

If you guys would like to see the little doll that I made for the last one (technically a plushie), you can go to my profile page and click to see my flickr account. I posted it up there. I will also be taking pictures of the one I received from my partner from the last swap and having those up there. It was a really cute idea for making a tiny little matchbox size doll! =D

misumisu22 12/20/2009 #

Just do whatever comes to you for me. Thanks! Can't wait!!

wolviechick121 12/26/2009 #

I added an edit to the description of what you will make for your doll. It is dated 12/25.

A "doll" can also mean a mini-plushie depending on how you want to make your doll. This isn't limited to a humanoid figure either.

I Know I am a newbie I have completed 1 swap this month and would love to join this one. if you need some pictures of some of the ones I've made just in the past couple days using these ideas I can send them to you via email.

samjowers 01/23/2010 #

I am so excited about this swap, I made two of them! a mermaid and a zetti doll!

MeredithMonster 01/23/2010 #

I'm excited to do another of these! So... This time I kind of what a Grecian themed doll if that's not to hard. I want it to be very open other than that though so you can do as you like with it. If that's too hard for whoever ends up being my partner, please feel free to let me know (I won't be upset, promise). :-)

mizrose03 01/25/2010 #

Hope you will do this again..I'm about to mail my 2nd "mail" swap..I soo would love some of these dolls..

LavenderLizard 01/25/2010 #

I can't finish this one in time as I will be out of town for much of the time between posting partners and the send by date and I always personalize (even if it isn't required)...host another one later, please!! I would LOVE to try this!

samjowers 01/25/2010 #

Can someone tell me how these boxes are displayed? do you put hangers on them so they can hang, Are there little stands that can be made for them???? Any suggestions? Do you pile them in a bowl like boxes and hope someone opens them???

wolviechick121 01/25/2010 #

Stands for the matchboxes? =P I just have them stacked on my desk right now. I want to maybe make some kind of display someday. Some kind of slanted display would be kind of nice I suppose. I'll let you know if I think of something. =P

I will most definately be hosting this again after this one. The first one went well, so I hosted this again. I will be making a third one for sure. B) I love the challenge of making a little doll.

Remember to post if you would like a certain theme for your partner. Otherwise, your partner will be going off of things they see on your profile for something you might like. I like to be suprised, but if you would like a theme, message them and leave a comment here.

You can find who will be sending to you by clicking on the "rate my partner" link. You just won't be rating them until you get your little doll and box of course. B)

wolviechick121 01/26/2010 #

Partners are assigned. Be sure to leave a comment here and write your partner if you would like a certain theme. Otherwise, partners - choose what you would like to make based on your partner's profile. =) Have fun everyone!!!

wolviechick121 01/26/2010 #

I would love an ocean-themed box, but if that's proving to be too difficult, I love surprises. =)

Moontear28 01/26/2010 #

Would love a fantasy theme but any theme my partner decides would be special :)

samjowers 01/31/2010 #

I started putting my boxes under a domed cake plate in the living room. Dont know what i will do if i ever bake a cake! Still looking for ideas.

wolviechick121 02/ 2/2010 #

When that cake plate is full, you should take a picture and put it up on your swapbot flickr account and tag it! I'd love to see it. teehee!
