Description:

This swap is for people who have 1/2 used (or more) balls of yarn that they can't remember what they are.

You know...the bands are...who knows where, but the yarn is so pretty--or yarn that you knit a queen size blanket from a year ago, and never want to see it again--but you still have 3 balls of it, and couldn't bear to get rid of it--except to an understanding 'new home'.

Let's say that you can post suggestions of colors/basic material preferences, but no specific requests or requirements--because you are at the mercy of the stash of the person who is sending things to you. No purchasing new things (unless it is a 'treasure' to add to your final box).

The reason for this swap is, as I was searching through my stash for a 'stash swap' I found several beautiful yarns that didn't have bands, so I hated to pass them along unless the person specifically wanted who-knows-what-yarns.

This should be a fun swap, please send a minimum of 3 skeins worth (obviously can be a combination of mini-skeins) and send enough of each type to be useful to make something reasonable.

Sorry if this is confusing, it is my first swap as coordinator and I'm a little tongue-tied!

No one with a no-send, or a score under 4.5. People who 'flake' or seeem like they will may be banned. Newbies are definitely welcome, but must have a full profile and message me.

Please post pictures of what you receive, and anything that you make from your "mystery yarn" Have fun!

My basics...I like almost anything, my favorite colors are greens and blues, and I love all kinds of natural fibers and yarns--the more I try, the more I love. No allergies, lots of yarn to send...

no allergies, no preferences, acrylic, novelty, whatever... most of it goes into scarves and hats and mittens for kids for a charity project I do. sometimes presents for friends and their kids...

i'm confused....send 3 half skeins or the equivalent of three skeins? it would be easier for me if you put like aprox yardage or something.

is this swap international? if so, i'm in. lot's of balls of wool waiting for a purpose.

is a skein like a ball? in the uk most of our wool comes in 50g balls.

I love making aphgans with random strands of yarn. Any kind seems to work. So far I have made 4 sticking to a basic color scheme: greens, brown and tans, creams, and now blues and yellows. I cast on 150 stitches on size 11 circular and I knit every row with a different yarn or rather varying about ten yarns. The ends become the fringe. It is so fun.

A ball is a skein is 50 grams is all different yardages. Isn't this supposed to be a leftover yarn swap? I don't think it has to be exact. Three half balls, four less than half, ten small balls. Am I wrong?

My preference is non-standard looking yarn except I really don't like suede, chenille, or eyelash. Of course, if you're my partner and that's all you've got, send it over

I second Jox's question about international-ness. I've joined anyway but it's always useful to have in the description whether or not there are any geographical restrictions. :)

I for one, don't mind an intl. swap....I think that it just takes a little more planning, and a little more patience on the part of the swappers (to wait for intl mail). If no one has any huge objections, I'd like to leave this one open to anyone, anywhere....

I love purples and greens and am allergic to angora - n acrylic please unless its been blended into something.

I would like to try something natural. Something like wool, or hand done stuff. Acrylics in cool colors will do if there isn't a huge selection.

I'm up for anything you feel like parting with. I'm just so darn tactile that it can be scary. No allergies. I welcome your stash into my own. :D

Melful,

I sent my package to you today from Canada. Hope you like it.

Ok I have to rant about this one. I sent Gina my package overflowing with great yarn that I hated to part with and I even included a favorite DVD that she had said that she really wanted. I pm'd her about 2 weeks ago to see if she had even received the package and no answer. Well today I tried to see when her last log in date was only to find out that her account had been deleted. Sigh oh well... I hope she likes the stuff I sent.
