Description:

This is a swap for Christians that enjoy reading, memorizing, meditating and praying scripture. What we're doing is starting a collection of decorated scripture cards.

Using 3" X 5" index cards (colored or white cards, ruled or unruled cards is up to the sender what type of card to use).

On one side of the card write the scripture including the reference information (book, chapter and verse) and which Bible version you're using (NIV, KJV, etc.,).

Make it legible, if your handwriting is hard to read that's okay just type it out and glue it on.

On the other side of the index card you can leave it blank or you can write the same scripture using a different version. For example: You may write a verse on one side from the NIV and then on the other side of the index card write the same verse using the KJV.

To decorate you may paint, draw or use stickers, etc., and make a nice border around the verse(s) or you can put the verse on one side and use the other side to make an inspirational or cheerful picture.

You will send 2 cards to 1 person for a total of 2 scriptures (a different scripture on each card).

You will mail your cards in an envie. Give out hearts as you see fit.

If everyone likes this swap then I'll sponsor more later on. I have a collection of scripture cards I've written on index cards and I keep them in a index card box. These are great to take out and read over when you are feeling down. They are so portable you can take a few to work and read over them during your lunch and breaks. You may want to start your own collection too and this will get you off to a fun start.

Newbies welcome as I'm pretty new myself. Everyone else must have high numbers to join. If you seem fishy then I reserve the right to ban you as I want everyone in the swap to be committed to getting the scripture cards done and mailed out. Enjoy!

I have been enjoying my new Remix Bible (NIV and The Message) - between the two versions there is so much opportunity for the Spirit to speak - and the Message is so visual, practical, and yet poetic its verses very often encourage me to 'see' in a new way - perfect for artistic and spiritual inspiration!

Thanks for this wonderful swap concept.

I'm excited about it too and glad to see it's getting a good response. Someone sent me a message and asked if they could use a rubber stamp they have of a bible verse and I think that's an awesome idea! I'm not a rubber stamper so it never occured to me that there are bible verse rubber stamps. If you have them then yes you can use them!

I love this idea! Thanks for hosting! I also hope you do more of these!

I would like it if the person who sends to me would write his/her name on the back (like we do for ATCs: name, date, and where from). :)

I think in future swaps, it would be great if we could send to more partners, so we could get more cards.....lol =)

What a great swap idea! I like the idea of combining scripture with art and hmmm...they could even be used as bookmarks too.

For those of us rubber stampers, paper artists, and scrapbookers, I'm thinking heavy colored cardstock or lightly decorative paper might make a good starting base.

Can you tell I'm excited to get started ? (smile)

For future swaps are you all wanting to send more cards to one recepient or are you wanting to send 2 cards to more people?

Probably won't do anymore of these until after the holidays are over cause we'll all be too busy.

Thanks for the feedback.

I am looking forward to this and will be using NASB and the Message, but I am looking forward to seeing what others are doing. Yes to sending two cards each to more than one partner, so we can fill up our file boxes more quickly and share different ways of approaching the same project. This is such a good idea for making memory cards, too. Thanks for this swap already!

I think I may use NIV and the Message, but I haven't decided 100% yet.

I would prefer 2 cards each to more than one partner over more cards to one partner for future swaps.

Rainydaygold 11/ 5/2009 #

OK. Next time we'll have more partners assigned. This will be a good trial run for us to see what we get and how it all works out. We want them to be pretty but practical too since they are made to be used as a teaching tool as well as appreciated by the eyes. :)

I'd love to do this swap again, I hope you host another one! :)

Thank all of you so much for all your great comments and wishes to do it again! I will definitely host a second round in January after we get through all the holidays. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and Merry Christmas and thank you for participating in this swap.
