postcard

So for the past week I have been developing a taste and skill for making my very own postcards. It is something I have enjoyed doing very much and decided, it was time for me to set up a swap.

You will have 3 partners and you will make them 2 hand made postcards in a 4x6 size. Get creative, have fun. The theme of the postcards is purely up to you. You may also use any type of technique you feel comforatble with.

This is an international swap and open to anyone.

I have pushed out the sign up date and the mail by date to give you plenty of time to start creating small master pieces.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Have fun!

The theme is "artist's choice" but what about techniques? Are all techniques acceptable? Fabric or digital art postcards, for instance?

user8740 06/19/2007 #

you are more than welcome to use any technique as well.

hey! so these would be 2 blank postcards for our partners to use in an envelope then?

user8740 06/19/2007 #

If you would like to leave the back side of the post card blank or write on it is purely up to you. I personally am going to leave the cards blank for my partner to use as they want.

some cards my only be able to survive the mail system via envelope. i think it depends on if you use any type of embellishment or not.

remember, the idea is to create a postcard of sorts. but it does not have to be used by the recipient as a post card. someone may love a card they received and decide to turn it into a recipe card, or hang it on the fridge.

Do the postcards have to be exactly 4x6, or can they be a bit larger?

user8740 06/28/2007 #

the postcards can be a bit larger if you would like...so long as they are at least a 4x6

Fyi-Just a note on making the larger postcard sizes. Anything over 4X6 cost more postage to send. Regular pc's are 26 cents. Anything over that will be 41 cents and up depending on size and width of pc. Regular size 4X6 pc's sent out of the USA will cost 90 cents if sending alone. Not sure how much a package of pc's going Int'l would be.

With the new postal changes sending a letter overseas is the same price as sending a regular postcard, so you might as well send 2 in an envie.

I don't remember if Canada has a pc rate or it's the same as a letter. Bad me.

A lot of time with handmade posties I like to get them hand stamped and sorted so it costs me an extra 17 cents anyways, and then I can make them bigger than 4x6 if need be.

I received my final packet of postcards today, with two from SpinJenny. She used a really cool technique to create background images, and then cut them / masked them in shapes on postcards. I'm stealing this technique!! Thanks for the swap. Carmen
