I do have info about my knitting preferences in my profile. Just to make it clear, I do not do purple. No purple. None.

Also, yarn like Bernat HotSox and Patons Kroy just sorta...well, they're blah. When I shop for myself, I buy things like Lorna's Laces, Claudia's Handpainted, and Koigu PPPM. Yummy stuff that I'd love to share!

I also love small dye-shops like Scout's Swag, Spunky Eclectic, and Mama E's CyEYEberfyber.

If anyone else wants some suggestions for fantastic places to pick up sock yarns, let me know! I will enable the hell out of you!

I have to say I am totally sock obsessed right now! Both in the buying of sock yarn and having 3-4 different pairs on the needles. I love discovering new small dyers out in the blogisphere-or just working locally. I have tried the 3 Suzanne mentions and love their styles! Mama E is well represented at my house:) Socks are the one garment that I will wear any color.

I'm really looking forward to this! My prefs are semisolid or vareigated yarns--I love indie/etsy handdyed stuff as well as Koigu, Claudia's, Gems, STR or something local. Favorite colors are burgundy/wine, purples, reds, greens, blues, pinks...suprise me! As for needles, I'm looking for little ones...size 1, 1.5 or 0.

I decided to do this!

My preferences are wool and wool blends (it doesn't need to be superwash!), most colors are fine (I don't do super dayglo brights...), but I am NOT into those heavily self striping yarns! Actually I am truly happier with handdyed solid yarns that have a bit of color variation but are not hand-painted. I like to make socks with interesting patterns and I find the handpainted yarns just detract from the whole...

indie yarn dyers, etsy sellers, etc are my faves. I haven't actually bought a lot of sock yarn so I don't know all the dyers, but I do like to support indie crafters.

I really need more needles in sizes 0-000. I keep losing them. I dropped a 00 in the river the other day, and so now I am knitting with slightly mismatched needles...

Oh, right, needles.

I like metal, plastic, and coated metal needles. I don't like wood or bamboo needles.

DPNS > circs

Don't feel like you need to include needles in your package; I'm happily set with my needle collection.

mother of all needles - I just wanted to let you know I have your name! If there are any likes/dislikes that you want to add let me know!...

Have a great swap everyone!

Mmmm...I'm so new (just since Feb) that I still need needles, in fact, I'd rather even have used ones to have a chance for my partner to be able to buy more than one pair for the same price...for DPs, I only own 3s and 5s (US) and so am trying to collect more of the sock-sizes. I love metal ones, or anything not as 'grabby'. Circs too, it seems like every pattern I pick up needs 16" ones in sizes I can't find/don't have! lol...someday I plan on owning a set of seaming pins/sock blockers and a library of intricate sock patterns...

I love bright yarn...teals are probably my favorite colors, though I'm not very picky. I have a slight allergy problem with the scratchier wools (probably the carbonization) and the more pronounced 'haloed' fibers (mohair, angora).

My ideal yarn is probably austermann step colourway 4 (though who's isn't? lol...huge price tag on that one, huh?)

On a generic level, I like cotton blends, superwash merinos, and almost any natural fibers. Hand painted yarns are a tremendous gift!

The only thing I have a tough time knitting with are the novelty/fur/eyelash yarns...though hopefully I will get better as time passes...sorry for the long post, I forget at night how much I'm writing...
