Description:

In this swap you need to send 1 postcard to 1 partner showing dog that is the same breed as your own dog is. Or, if you don't have dog/can't find card you can send card showing a breed/x-breed that you'd like to have.

The dog card has to be "natural". With this I mean no funny cards like dog with clothes or other accessories. For good examples, see my own dog card collection: www.torahime.net/collection It is ok if there are other animal on the card but the dog has to be the main object.

The card has to be store bought unless your partner wants handmade and you want to make one.

You can send the card unwritten in an envelope or written and stamped but I hope you could send as your partners wishes.

When you rate give 5 if the store bought card shows dog as natural. If you got the card as wished (written, unwritten, handmade...) then think of giving a heart :)

Ask for any details!

What if you can't find a postcard with your dog's breed (mutt) on it? Is printing it out and making a postcard OK even if your partner doesn't specify 'handmade'? And do you still get 5 points? (I'm new at this.)

Good question! You only can print the image if the partner specifies "handmade". When you have mutt I know it is hard (=impossible) to find exact card but you can send any kind of mutt if you like, and describe your own dog how he/she looks. What you other guys think? Of course I could make new swap where you send real printed picture of your dog :)

Hi there - I like this idea (just joined the swap), but I'd also definitely join a swap using photos of our own actual dogs too!

photos of your dog/pet makes it a bit more personal. I like to hear about your pets personal quirks/ habits/ special markings, how the dog became part of your family, etc... perhaps it can be sender's choice? My dog is the cutest thing ever but refuses to look at the camera or sit still for a photo -- I'm assuming others have this dilemma & we'd have to resort to a store bought card, lol. I'm not being critical of the swap, just saying the details might be challenging for some of us :)

I'd prefer our own dogs, too...so whoever gets me as a partner, you can definitely make it yourself!

Thanks for your comments! Perhaps we can arrange own swap with handmade card with your dog on it. I created this kind of swap because I collect only store bought cards and this "my dog theme" would be nice spice instead just "dog card swap". But I can see here are lots of people who likes handmade cards, too :)

If you can't find a card

...If you can't find a card showing your own breed then send some other breed that you might like to have.

Perhaps the title is a little misleading, and this is attracting people who want to make a PC of their own dog? Just a thought. :)

SkippyMom 09/14/2009 #

That is what I thought @MishyBelle - my dog, so a postcard handmade with a pic of my dog?

I would never be able to find a Chesapeake Bay Retreiver, even tho' I live close to the Chesapeake Bay. :) Or a double dapple, piebald dachsund.

Hope you have a fun swap.

Okay, I just changed number of your partners to one if it helps anyone :)

Handmade card is ok for me! Please write something about your dog on the card.

For animals, especially pets, you need to be able to take care of them carefully, I think. It is a careful reading of a variety of materials on this topic that can help you here.

I find it easiest to walk my pet when I know exactly where he is and what is wrong with him. That's why I prefer to use gps dog fence system https://pawious.com/en-ca/collections/gps-wireless-dog-fences With this device I know that my dog will not get lost and everything will be fine. It gives me a lot more peace of mind.
