Famous Wieners

Dachshunds have enjoyed being in the list of the American Kennel Club's list of Top Ten Dog Breeds for a few years now. But there have been many who have loved this breed,before that list ever came out.

Queen Victoria,H.B. White,Pablo Picasso all called the dachshund a wonderful companion and some like the precocious Lump were immortalized in art. And some even made it to film.

With back-school just around the corner, I have a swap-assignment for you ( stop groaning! It's simple, I swear!). By any methods possible (library,laptop, home computer, ipod, TV or movie), find a famous wiener dog. This qualifies as the following:

• 1) The dog was owned by a celebrity or some other famous person.

• 2) The dog is in literature (children's books, fiction, etc.) or is a comic strip character ( there are 2 major wiener dog comic strip characters)

• 3) There was a movie revolving around dachshund(s). Again, there are 2. Or the dachshund was in the movie somewhere, as a supporting character.

• 4) There was a commercial featuring a dachshund (at least one infamous advertisement comes to mind! Stampede!!!!)

• 5) The dog was noted for doing something incredible (skydiving,surviving an accident or illness) and is featured somewhere (like youtube.com, or has their own blog).

You can do this up as a letter, collage or ATC if you're feeling creative or however you wish.You can send as much printed material that has to do with the famous wiener dog as you wish.

I'm giving this a month for the research factor. But all in all, have fun! If anything else you may have a new rental DVD for movie night.
