Description:

I made this one open to Newbies and International. So the idea is to help you get a few snail mails out that will help you with your ratings and ability to move up to other swaps you might like to participate in.

Each person will have 2 partners to swap with - you will send 10 buttons to each of your 2 partners. However, if it says to send out 2 green buttons that only counts as 1 item not 2 and that does not mean to send out 6 different gold buttons unless for some reason your partner has specifically told you to do that.

Your 6 items must come from the list below but for hearts check your partners profile and make them profile related or add an extra profile related item.

• a large button (1" or bigger)

• 2 sparkly buttons

• 1 wooden

• 1 gold

• 1 silver

• 1 Christmas button

• 1 cross/religious icon shaped/themed button

• 2 animal themed (dog, cat, frog, horse, etc.)

• 1 multicolored button

• 1 square button

• 1 satin button

• 1 rivet or button from jeans with the button hole also!

• 1 pink

• 2 different blue buttons

• 4 white buttons

• 1 insect themed button (bumblebee, dragonfly, ladybug, etc.)

• 1 flower button

• 1 fabric button

• 1 yellow

• 1 odd shaped button

• 1 sports themed button (football, soccer, hockey, etc.)

• 1 people button (with face, people shaped, children on it, etc.)

• 2 skiens of embroidery floss

• fabric marking pen

• 1 skein ribbon

• 1 scissors

• 1 thimble

• 2 – 6x6 squares of fabric

• 1 note/memo pad

• 1 pack embroidery/quilt/sewing needles (must contain more than 1 needle)

• 2 sharpie markers

Please make sure to list anything you really can't use from the list above (and/or on your profile) and things that would make you really excited to receive from the list or add your own button ideas to the list!

PS> Hard candies also make nice "padding" so that items don't move around - hint, hint.

Any questions please ask - I will angel to those that don’t receive their items but I know that’s not going to happen! ;-)

Discussion

I wish discussion of swaps could be kept to swap participants. Otherwise use the forums to keep rehashing the same topics.

Now a comment from an actual swap participant... Not that people will read them at the bottom of the list now... I'm not a picky partner, but a hint as to what I'm using up right now is that I could really use buttons 3/4" and larger for towel toppers. Plain is good! About the only thing I'm full up on is fabric. Thanks!

Amen Pearlie!!!

I don't understand the instructions. We are supposed to send 10 buttons to each partner, but 6 of them have to come from the list below the instructions? I am a newbie. :-P

jtmg2099 07/ 3/2009 #

azpoppy - you need to send your partner 6 buttons from the list unless otherwise stated from your partner (ie: perlie would like buttons that are 3/4 inch or larger so if she is your partner send her buttons that are 3/4 inch or larger) or if you have someon else then you might send - 1 silver, 1 gold, 1 pink, 1 wooden, 4 white ones, 1 embordiary floss - so some things have more than one to send of that item but it only counts as 1 item - does that help or are you more confused?

So, 6 of the items/buttons have to come from the list (or as requested) and the other 4 are our choice?

jtmg2099 07/12/2009 #

okay so you caught my typo - oops! but that is fine if you'd like to do that . . . . it's my fault for not having my husband read the post before posting so yes at least 6 items need to come from the list and the other 4 may be your choice or send at least 10 from the list . . . .

I can use anything but the blue jeans button and button hole. Thanks

Hi there, ideally i would prefer bright and primary coloured buttons please. I don't care for themed buttons and i love sewing, so embroidery skeins would be fantastic. Thanks.

Hi, this will be my first snail mail swap! I'm excited about it and I'm not picky in the least! The only thing I wouldn't need would be the jeans and button hole one.

Hi, I ideally would prefer buttons, any are fine but I don't have a use for the jeans and button hole thing :)
