Well I have been wanting to give this a go and I thought why not do it as a swap with other people who might be interested. You will create 6 1-2" inch fabric charms, for 3 people. 2 charms each. make six send 2 to 3 people Rules: It must not be bigger than 2" It must be made from fabric. It must be reinforced (no floppy charms) It must be able to be hung from a bracelet or necklace. You can embellish them any way you see fit. Please make it something YOU would want to wear yourself. It should be hard for you to pack them up and send them off. 4.5 or 5 to participate. Newbies welcome with a filled out profile. If you feel you were unfairly rated let me know. I reserve the right to ban anyone I feel is a flaky.

I haven't been able to find a good instructional website, but I did find this on a google search: http://ruthrae.blogspot.com/2007/02/fabric-charm-swap.html There are so many photos with great examples! :) I'm pretty new to sewing, so I'm taking baby steps with this. For this swap I started ages ago, so if I mess up I can start over. I hope it turns out nicely!

If you do a google search for "fabric inchies," you'll find quite a few sites with pictures. To make fabric inchies into jewelry charms, you just need to add an eyelet and ring for hanging, or thread some beading wire or cord through your charm. Or, if your partner likes brooches or hair pins, a simple pin back added to the back of your project.

Here's a suggestion. I have made fabric inchies and then put a grommet/eyelet in a corner and added a jump ring - Ta dah - a charm!

I've never made inchies before and interpreted this swap a little differently... (A lot differently!) I hope my partners receive it soon and let me know if it's okay, or if I should resend. A little worried...

I've been working on a re-send for a long time... It's a little frustrating because even with tutorials and practice, my skills don't seem to be improving. I hope to have them out on or before the 10th. It depends on whether my sewing machine's lower thread will stop jamming or not. I'm really sorry, but I didn't know about the "drop from swap" option before and this was my first swap on swap-bot.
