Description:

For this swap, we will be writing only one letter. To whom? Well that's up to you. You will be "sending" it to one of your fellow swap-botters, but it will be "addressed and intended" for whoever you choose (i.e. departed family member, lost pet, unrequited love, long-lost best friend, etc).

Use this as an opportunity to say what you never had the chance to say previously.

Hopefully hearts will be given not only for "extras" but for how open one is with their letter. I recommend providing a cover letter to your assigned swapper to give them a bit of background knowledge of why you are writing to said person/animal and any other information that may help them relate to what you are writing. Good luck!

this looks so, so good... I can't do it because I will be out of town those dates, but... if you do another one... will you let me know? :)

senoravetinari 06/15/2009 #

This is my first swap so please bear with me. :) I think this is a really good idea for a project, too!

MistyLynne 06/17/2009 #

Oh thank you both! Littlestoryland - I'll definitely keep you posted for next time around. Senoravetinari - No worries! If you have any questions/comments/complaints at all please don't hesitate to either put them here or PM me. Hope y'all have a great day! :o)

I already have my letter completed...just waiting for partners to be assigned. Is this supposed to be handwritten, or can it be typed?

MistyLynne 06/30/2009 #

Great question! I'll say either or. Mine will most likely be typed just because that's pretty much the only way I communicate nowadays (except for posties). But if anyone wants to hand-write theirs, that's perfectly acceptable as well. :o)

Newfie 07/ 3/2009 #

Thanks MistyLynne. I have mine typed already in the PC but will hand write the cover letter to send by mail, right?

MistyLynne 07/ 4/2009 #

Yes, ma'am. :o) And I hope you're having a wonderful Fourth of July!

MistyLynne 07/ 4/2009 #

Opps! I see you're in Canada ~ but still have a tremendous Saturday!!! :P

kimpulse 07/ 4/2009 #

its on my watchlist :)

ps: you probably meant hearts ^^ ("Hopefully stars will be given not only for "extras" but for how open one is with their lette"r)

MistyLynne 07/ 4/2009 #

@sugarbun thank you sooo much for bringing that to my attention. When I read it, I automatically read "hearts" vice "stars" ... my bust. Will correct immediately. :o)

I have mine written and ready to be addressed. Eagerly awaiting to be assigned partners!

I would love to join this swap but I'd be afraid I would depress my partner. I'd be writing my letter to my Grandfather who passed away recently and I felt he didn't love me like the other grandchildren.

Reesie271 07/11/2009 #

Mine is gonna be sad/angry at first too I really hope that my partner is prepared for it.

mutantpenguin 07/11/2009 #

Oh I think that is what would be hard... I'd want to be honest and to do that it would definitely be depressing. I'd like to write to the person I thought was my best friend but who threw away a 12 year friendship without a glance. Or maybe write to the daughter who died as a baby. See... too depressing to really want to share. Don't you think?

Reesie271 07/11/2009 #

I dont know, I joined the swap thinking it would be cathartic to get a lot of things off my chest and sent away. I actually dont care if my partner even reads past the cover note. Im going to put a disclaimer in my cover note that says that what follows may be emotionally difficult. So...

mermaidery 07/12/2009 #

I found writing this letter helped a lot. After I was done, I re-copied it.. In hope that I can someday give it to the person it's intended for.. and maybe sooner then later.

Reesie271 07/12/2009 #

I saved it too, Im not sure I will ever be brave enough to connect with him again in anyway but just in case I have it.

Newfie 07/12/2009 #

Mine was so hard to write...to my Dad who just died in March. I cried all while I wrote it. I'm sure all of us expects that what we receive will be sad or angry or whatever the emotions are of the person who wrote it. Mine was real honest!

MistyLynne 07/12/2009 #

I'll chime in as well. The reason I set up this swap was because my father was murdered on Good Friday, 10 April 2009. {The initial article about it is linked on my provile} There were so many things left unsaid between the two of us.

About a month after we returned home, my husband and I were eating at a local restaurant, and I was trying to figure out a way to deal with all this angst and unresolved frustration I was feeling. Thus the idea for this swap was born. I hope it truly helps you guys and gals out as much as it has me. I sincerely appreciate you joining as well as being open with one another. May you hearts be a lil' bit lighter after writing these. May you all be blessed! :o)

Reesie271 07/13/2009 #

Thank you Misty, Sorry to hear about your father. I do understand the confusion and Angst, my father killed himself in the garage and I was the one to find him. This was over 10 years ago though and I have since come to terms. Time doesn't heal all, it just gives you distance and perspective to be able to cope with your grief and feelings. Bless you too sweetheart

Newfie 07/15/2009 #

Oh MistyLynne (and Reesie271) I'm ever so sorry for you both. At least my loss was much less frightening, for sure. I wish you both the best. I came on here now to say that I have just mailed my letter. I hope the young girl who receives mine appreciates where I'm coming from in that letter. Cheers to all of you who have found this project emotionally draining. It's also been therapeutic for me.
