Description:

This swap is for all the pet-loving sisters out there!

We will send THREE items for ONE partner:

1 Handmade item for the pet: This can be a toy, collar, bed, stuffie, rope toy, catnip toy, chase toy, bandanna, clothing, sweater, hair-bow, or baked treats like biscuits or chewies, a decorative sculpture for the fish tank, etc. Point-of-entry crafting skills for this is pretty low -- see the links below for ideas. Sew, crochet, knit, bake, glue, stuff... whatever you like.

1 Store-bought item for the pet: Again, this is wide-open: treats, toys, accessories are all acceptable.

1 item, handmade or store-bought, for the pet owner: This should be a pet-related item, based on your partner's pet. But it's for the person, not the animal. This can be a craft -- a kitty ATC for a cat-lover, a fish stuffie for the fish fan, a crocheted puppy for the dog nut -- or it can be a fun thing you found at the store -- dog breed rubber stamp, cat notecards, potbellied pig pen... THis should be based on your partner's taste in pets, not yours. It should be species specific, but it doesn't have to be breed specific. (So you don't have to try to find a mug with a Cornish Rex on it.)

Here are some links for ideas to get you started:

You get the idea!

IMPORTANT: You must post below:

  1. What kind of pet do you have?
  2. What size is your pet? (ittty bitty kitty or fat cat? Teensy chihuahua or giant mastiff?)
  3. Does your pet have any issues with allergies or stuff it (or you) hates? (Mine, for example, won't wear anything in the hat family for more than 5 seconds.)

I made it international because I can't bear to leave out our sisters in other countries. Everyone should just try to be conscious of international postage costs and understand that if your partner is from another country, you might get smaller/lighter items.

If you have any questions, please PM me or post below. Have fun!

I'll go first:

  1. I have two Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Nelly and Barkley. (That's Nelly in the picture above, with a silly haircut.)
  2. Nelly is about 35 pounds; Barkley is a whopping 50 (huge for a Wheaten). That makes them about "medium" sized for the most part (for things like treats or chews or toys) but Barkley wears a large collar.
  3. Neither one will really wear clothes of any kind (t-shirts or hats or what have you); they rip them off in seconds. They love a bandanna though (as you can see above) or a collar. They are also both allergic to wheat. That rules out most standard dog biscuits, although there are plenty of wheat-free treats available.

This idea is so sweet. I will miss this one as I dont have a pet - an 11 year old boy definately - but no cute animals

xx

This sounds like fun. I have a few critters here, won't be getting my dog until Tuesday so I'll fill this in nearer the time

I wish I had a pygmy goat

LOL! I'd hate to have to craft for a goat. :) I'm putting this on my watchlist!

I have 3 large dogs - 2 lab mixes and a german shepherd and I also have a cat. My eldest lab mix loves to wear jackets - he is quite the fashionista. However they are pretty big dogs, so I do not expect an outfit. My kitty will not wear clothes, but he can always use catnip toys (because the dogs steal his). Stuffed toys for the dogs will only last roughly 30 seconds. Store bought item - my eldest dog goes bucknuts for fresh can of tennis balls - literally shakes all over. They have no allergies but need to diet (cough-like their owners) so lite treats are appreciated. My pets are big spoiled babies and will love any special item :)

Ok, I have Flash now :D

Flash is a Saluki Lurcher and loves food and toys but not clothing. He would probably go nuts for a stuffie (he has a teddy bear he sleeps with every night)

I also have 7 rats. The girls (5 of them) love yoghurt drops and the boys prefer savoury treats. Hammocks are chewed to pieces in a matter of days (but they do enjoy chewing them lol)

I have to dogs, Becky (6.6 lbs.) and Amber (9 lbs.)

They are completely spoiled and unfortunately do not like bisquits, but they do wear clothing and love toys. :)

There was some concern about international shipping costs... I hope everyone gets the idea that it's okay to send small stuff to keep postage down!

More project ideas, including some really cute collar charms: http://www.freepetprojects.com/default.aspx?PageID=933

I have a mutant 62 pound Border Collie that goes by the minker Malcolm The Reluctant. He's a rescue. He's a beauy and the beatie I use as my avatar.

I also have two cats. Vlad The Non-Impaler is a rescued declawed (not by us!) pure-bred Bombay. He's 11.

Fiona The Impudent embodies completely the tortoise-shell ways - she has 'tort-itude' and then some. She's 2 1/2.

This should be a fun swap, especially if no one else drops.

Swap sent 6/30.

Sorry so late with this.

I guess I'm a crazy cat lady: 4 males who think they are gladiators, and 1 very prissy little female. They like toys and treats, and catnip. Heavy on the treats...lol.

I extended to August 10... remember you can always send early! Thanks everyone for your flexibility.
