My grandmother and many others who lived through the Depression followed a household policy of "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."

This is a themed group swap in four parts. The last part is "Do without." Write your partners a letter that follows the theme of what you or your household is currently trying to "Do without." It could be cable, a second car for your two-adult household, restaurant dining, ready-made clothes, crafty stash enhancement, or anything else that reasonably fits the theme. Talk about why you have chosen to do without this item, and what accommodations you are making in its place. Do you see this as a temporary sacrifice, or a lifestyle change? How has doing without changed your outlook toward this item or things like it?
