Description:
International, 1 partner, flat mail / cost of one stamp to mail I forgot to post a swap for banned books week. So let's do a banned books MONTH!! :) During the month of October, keep a list of titles and authors of books you've read or listened to that are on a Banned Books List. You can use any list you wish - there are lots online. Minimum is ONE banned book for the month. When the month is over, send your partner a list of the Banned Books you've read - or re-read - during the month of October. List at least one you really enjoyed and would recommend to others. You can send this in a letter, a notecard, postalette, even a post card, if you have enough room. This link is from Wikipedia and includes the reasons for the challenge. Of the list, I think my absolute favorite listed is the Bible being challenged for religious views. I mean, what do you expect? That always cracks me up. If you're looking for suggestions, I always go with Judy Blume or Norma Klein - Klein is hard to find, but they were eye-opening YA novels back in the 90's.

Another recommendation - Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D Taylor. I LOVE this book. It's heart wrenching, but the characters come to life so much, and it's part of a series that is excellent. My kids first listened to this book when they were about a year old, and my daughter says this was the first book that came to life for her and made her want to read - and she wanted Cassie as a friend! :)

I just ordered, "The Hate U Give." I hope to get to at least two titles this month.
