If you are reading this then you must be a horse lover too! I have loved horses practically since birth...I don't remember a time that I was not obsessed with them. It was always my dream to have one of my own but since my parents were not horse people and certainly were not equipped to have or care for one so I was not able to fulfill that dream. Finally, at age 21, I got my first horse and was so in love with that sweet gelding, he was my best friend for sure. Now, over 30 years later I have a whole list of wonderful horses I was lucky enough to have. How about we share a memory of a favorite horse, tell a little about them or just maybe a fun memory of a favorite ride or event. This swap is all about the love of our horses. If you don't have your own horse but still have a fond memory of one, then please share that too. This is a super easy no fuss swap. Just share your memory below, in the comments, then enjoy reading what your partner shares. Please give your partners a 5 and heart for sharing. The horse pictured above is one of 3 that I have now, he is a Tennessee Walker named 'Horse'. I know, not very original but my husband named him, he said if John Wayne can have a dog named dog then we can have a horse named horse! lol

My first horse "Red" was a dream come true. We bonded almost immediately and I could actually tell that he loved me as much as I loved him. On bad days I would sneak away to the barn, in the middle of the night, and would sit in his stall with his head in my lap and just spill my heart out to my sweet friend. One prominent memory was when he saved me from a terrible fall. We were loping bareback through this open field. He was great about giving me that slow rocking chair lope that was super easy to sit bareback and boy what an awesome feeling that was...riding through a beautiful field with my best friend. One day we were loping and he stepped in a gopher hole and stumbled. Being bareback I knew instantly that I had no chance of staying on. When he tripped, he fell forward and his head went down and I instantly slid forward and up his neck! It was like slow motion and I was about to land in front of him and probably be trampled. I was all the way up his neck and was actually right behind his ears trying with all of my might to wrap my legs around, searching for any grip that I could get!! He kept his cool and instead of dumping me on the ground he started raising his head and shimmied me back down to his back then slowly came to a stop with me safely sitting on him! I was in shock, shaking from what had just happened and quickly realized that he had just saved me. I couldn't believe that a moment ago I was literally sitting behind his ears with my legs wrapped around to not fall and a few seconds later I was safe and sound on his back. I still can't believe how it all happened. It had to be hard for him to hold his head and neck straight and wiggle me down...I am not a tiny woman so I know the easy thing for him would have been to just dump me...but he didn't. It may sound weird to some but I really think that he cared for me enough to save me that day. Unfortunately I only had him for about 5 years, he contracted Heaves (similar to Emphesema for humans) and crossed that rainbow bridge and broke my heart. Every horse that I have owned since paled in comparison to that sweet bright red gelding. I miss him dearly.

I sometimes point out horses as we drive by and my hubby sings "the horses stand around their feet are on the ground" lol. Also I enjoy watching horse shows and I have ridden a pony ride at the fair when I was tiny. I want to go horseback riding somewhere cool before I get old!

Some little girls dream of getting married and having children. I dreamed of owning a horse. My father always said I would never have a horse because only rich people own horses. Well, at 28 and making hardly anything I bought my horse. I guess he never heard of "horse poor." We pick our poisons and priorities. My horse was a 16.2 grey thoroughbred named Idyll Threat. He was the love of my life for 24 years. We were trail riders after I retired him from racing. We went on a 1.5-hour ride just five days before he died. He never retired. He was the love of my life, my prayer, my partner, poetry, sanity, salvation, peace. After he died, I was in a dark place and needed grief counseling to get unstuck. I couldn't imagine living in a world in which he did not exist. He is my one and only. Now, I volunteer at a horse therapy barn to feed, water, hay, groom, and exercise their five therapy horses. My fave is an old Friesian with leg issues named Durk. I call him Durky Durk. He's a nuzzle lover.

I used to work at a riding school and there was one horse that I had this special bond with. He was called Peevee. And he had such big feet. He was a cold blood and had such a big ass, too, haha. When I was younger, I used to ride at another riding school, and it was there that I was launched on the ground. After that, I was too scared to ride. For school. I had to do an internship and that is how I ended up at the other riding school. They offered me the job. And every time when I went for a ride, I choose Peevee. He gave me the trust I needed to ride again. He was really sweet, and he really felt what a rider needed from him. Because of him, I was riding again. We did a few contests together.

I had to leave him when I quit working there. It broke my heart, but I could not deal with how my boss was handling the horses. I am the kind of person that is full of emotions and empathy. And, at 17, I already had so many conflicts with the guy, because I was standing up to him about that.

Peevee really has a special place in my heart. This has been years ago, but I know he is still alive. From time to time, I check the website to see if he is still alive. In a kind of way, I grieved about him. At that time, I really wished. I had the money to buy him, but I just don't have it. I will never forget about Peevee.

I had a buckskin gelding horse when I was 14 named Sundown. He was considered a 'bush pony' even though he was 14 hands high. We were stationed in Gamboa, Panama, and we were fortunate to have stables so we could own horses. We were there for six years, so we had to sell him when we were shipped out to another location and I always thought about him and how he was doing with his new owner. I loved to bathe him, and brush him and braid his mane. He was a good riding horse for me, a beginner, but one day my friend and I took our horses out to the huge field to ride and she decided she wanted to run. Well as soon as she took off, my horse went into competing mode and ran even faster. To this day, I never knew how I stayed on that horse. He had a hold of the bit, and was not responding to me and at some point, my friend's horse was not responding to her either. The horses had a mind of their own. Eventually the horses decided to run back towards the stables, but came to an abrupt stop right before the bridge. I went flying off onto the ground. It was a miracle I was ok.. I never blamed my horse, I still thought he was my best friend. I loved him very much. We would go on to compete in barrel racing. I would like to own a horse again, but i am 63 years old now and somewhat hesitant to get on a horse at my age. There are two local organizations that provide horseback riding to disabled people, so I am going to apply to help them out so i can be around horses again. Thanks for all of you for sharing your heartwarming stories with me.

Again, thank you all for sharing your stories. Horses are a loving, majestic animal that I am thankful to have had in my life all these years. I dread the day that I have to admit that my husband and I can no longer do the physical work needed to take care of our babies...ugh, how would I get through the day without them? Anyway, thank you tons!!
