Description:

I used to host a public swap for decorated tags with creative & motivational quotes on them. I have a nice collection and I find tags are easy to collect, store, and manage.

Let’s make junk journal prompts for each other. You will decorate 3 tags with paint, ink, stamping, collage, or other means and write one prompt on each tag. The tags can be different shapes and sizes (see photo on the FB page) but should be bigger than one-inch wide but not larger than 6 inches tall.

You can include your favorite actions (add splatters, use 2 colors only, add a pocket); your favorite items (add a vintage photo, use a paper clip, include a map); your favorite media/products (write with ink, water soluble crayons, add paint with a brayer); or your favorite techniques (scratch into wet paint, use a resist, use alcohol pens and add a glaze of gesso).

Top tip: I make 2 sets of tags at the same time so I can keep one set for myself.

You can make the tag with the prompt in mind - a painted tag with a prompt about adding paint, a collaged tag with a prompt about collage. This is not a requirement, just a suggestion. PLEASE type or stamp your prompt - make sure it is readable/legible for your partner. You can put the prompt on the front or the back of the tag - artist's choice.

You will make 3 tags for your partner with 3 creative junk journal prompts. You do not need to include string or any type of decorative fibers with your tags. It will be easier to mail without any 3-D elements.

Any questions? Ask below. I hope this will be a monthly swap.

Some links to get you started if you are just joining in:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVcJzVV0kyM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKo6mrhUGI8 - About minute 12 of the video she gets to the prompts.

You can also search out megjournals on Instagram for her Junk Journal January or July and you'll find prompts there.

And of course Pinterest is full of lists of prompts, if you get stuck.

By creating these swaps, I was hoping that we would inspire each other, remind each other of old/favorite/familiar techniques, and maybe learn a new trick or two.

Have fun!
