Description:

We all know about Christmas in July right?  Well, how about Halloween in May??  Let's celebrate Halloween early with a whimsey jar!  I'm making this a U.S. only swap due to shipping costs.  Trying to keep them on the lower side.  If anyone wants to do an international version of this swap for our swapping pals abroad, please feel free to do so :)

Here's the spooky skinny. Please read the swap description fully :

*You will have one partner for this swap.  The theme is Halloween so think black, orange, purple in color and in general, items that you would associate with Halloween. (Balck cats, pumpkins, Jack O Lanterns, owls, full moon, graveyards, assorted monsters and vampies for just a few examples...)

*Your jar must be of the size to hold one cup (8 ounces) of liquid.  If you pour a cup of water in there and it fills it up to the top, you have a winner.  Any shape jar is fine as long as it holds the amount stated above.

*Please fully decorate the outside portion of your whimsey jar (the jar lid or top included) with a Halloween theme using any style of art/media you would like.  Paint it, sparkle it up, ephemera, fabric,...sky's the limit :)  Use your imagination and make it special.  It is NOT acceptable to slap a couple of stickers on the outside and call it a whimsey.  Please put time and thought into this project and make it nice for your partner.

*Fill the interior of your whimsey jar with all sorts of Halloween themed items.  The jar should be filled to the top, the lid should be able to be secured on top.  Don't fill your jar with only one type of item or put large items in there just to use up room.  This is supposed to be fun and your partner will enjoy lots of little treasures.  Some ideas for the contents: Buttons, brads, ribbon, trims, beads, sequins, handmade art, ATC's, charms, stickers, diecuts and chipboard, Halloween themed ephemera....anything Halloweenie!  Check your partner's profile out and see if they possibly have any likes you might be able to work off of.

*Please send only items you yourself would want to receive.  In other words no junk.

*Please wrap and pack your whimsey jar well when mailing it out for your partner so it will arrive in one piece.  The postal service has been known to be not so gentle with our goodies at times :)

*Members with a 4.8 rating or higher only and have 7 or more rated snail mail swaps due to the nature of this swap.  No no-sends or 1's in the last 3 months. (if there is an unfair rating issue or something please pm me and I'm happy to listen).  NO FLAKERS!  I reserve the right to ban anyone I feel might cause problems, flake or is suspicious.  I hope this doesn't seem too harsh.  I want to do my very best to make sure this is an enjoyable experience and as a host it's my responsibility to  take care of the participants.  I will check profiles thoroughly before issuing partners.

That's it! Let's have a spookalicious good time :)

So it definatly has to hold the 8oz and thats it? It cant be any bigger then that?

ChristyC11 04/ 3/2009 #

If you'd like to make it bigger go for it :) 8 oz is the minimum size required.

Tigra 04/ 4/2009 #

Ok thanks. The jar I have that fit the 8oz rule just seemed a bit small to me :D

No problem :) Welcome!

I have this on my watch list for now. I just did a larger profile based jar and used a good bit of the Halloween stuff I had. I went shopping yesterday and Halloween items are hard to come by at this time of the year. Maybe I will save this for a later swap too!!!
