Description: | |
For this swap you will send two partners two cards. 2 partners/2 cards = 4 cards total Sign up by April 15, mail by April 30. Please carefully read the instructions as you need to incorporate several elements to meet the challenge! The idea behind this challenge is to encourage experimenting with different types of materials and ephemera. THE CHALLENGE: --Each card should incorporate one of the paper slips from the fortune cookies that you receive in Chinese restaurants. --Each card should incorporate at least one small piece of PATTERNED tissue paper. For example, I've got tissue that is green with yellow stars, purple and pink striped and black and white with a spider web design. This is the kind of thin paper that's used to wrap special gifts. Most of us have some tissue paper stored from gifts, but if you don't already have some special tissue check at one of the dollar stores in your area. They generally have interesting patterns and colors. Try layering the tissue over other elements - it's usually thin enough to be transluscent so you may be able to see patterns and colors below. What effects can you create? --Each card should incorporate crayon, watercolor, acrylic paint, ink or wax: Use one or more of these on your card. Try dyeing your tissue paper with a bit of ink. Try using acrylic paint on a rubber stamp (instead of ink.) Try carefully melting some beeswax and dripping some on the card. --No commercial stickers on these cards. This means any sticker with a pre-printed design (like the kind you'd buy in the scrapbooking or craft store.) If you create your own sticker with a Xyron machine or want to use text stickers that's OK -- but don't make a commercial sticker the focal point of your card. Cards should measure 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. Please make sure they are constructed sturdily -- the card should be about the same weight/flexibility as a playing card or sports trading card. I'm challenging you to send quality cards that you'd like to receive. You must be a member of the Flickr ATC group to participate.
