PRETTY GEORGIAN ERA TAG BOOKMy dear Georgettes, Let us indulge our sensibilities, and make a treasure for us to admire for generations to come. We have occasion to make ourselves a tag book for our "At Home" creative efforts. This will be a progressive tag swap. Each month a new theme will be provided to follow. The themed prompts will often follow either (male &/or female) focus and pictorial from our era. The object for this swap will be to make a tag - a flat upright shipping tag, specifically sized 6 1/4 x 3 1/8 inches or (15.8 x 7.9cm) The making of our "keep at home covers" will be the finale end highlight, influenced by Madame Marie Antoinette & the grand palace Rococo opulence. The Swap Using a standard #8 shipping tag (6 1/4" X 3 1/8" ~ 15.8 x 7.9cm), or make your own with stock card, with a (vertical) alignment (hole on the top), make a beautiful near FLAT tag using the theme READING in the REGENCY ...Tag #1... this tag could simply display objects/furniture of the era, or figures depicting the theme. This is a grand opportunity to forage on internet or etsy for downloadable imagery or use the ones that our kind members have provided us. To keep the envelope flat to send out, you do not need to send with the tie at the top of the tag but perhaps include a ribbon or short length lace etc separate in the envelope. please write a light note speaking as your character would of the latest book or letter she/he is reading we feel this would be a diverting inclusion....(in the first person please ie: as if they are talking not on her behalf as we have had an indication talking in the third person is popping up in our members letters lately, we would like you all to exercise the actual voice of your character, it is wonderful way to get to know them and for you the writer discovering more of how they spoke & being aware of their life in the Georgian era). Lastly cover the back of each tag with pretty paper with your username, characters name, your town/state and date, as the backs of the tags will be visible when they are assembled into a book. Postage being ridiculous means we have to be a bit ingenious keeping everything flat and light. At the end of this project we will connect our tags to make a novel type of book. I hope this sounds as appealing to you as it does to me! To reiterate, you will have only ONE partner for each swap, yet we can always make two tags, one to send out/one to keep at home with us as we often sigh wishing we had kept the tag we send off. So if making a second tag for yourself - The keep at home tag will then be put aside to be kept for the finish - book making part of the swap, where each of the further tags received & those others you make specific to this size - will be then collated into a beautiful tag book for your keepsake. I hope you will all consider joining in this pretty tag swap. Any queries, do not hesitate to message either Anna, Nickalli or Jane. |
