OK, before you scream at the title, work with me. :) This year has been a challenge in so many ways, for so many people. It's been pretty awful. It's been sad and horrible. Most of us have all had to learn how to go about our lives all over again. Every time you turn on or log in for the news, it's awful, isn't it? But it's not ALL bad. There HAVE BEEN GOOD things this year. Maybe you got to spend more time alone. Maybe you got to spend more time with your spouse or kids. Or your pets. Maybe you've learned to cook, or garden. Maybe you cleaned out some closets, or just had more time to read. Maybe you've learned a new craft. Maybe you've tried order pick up services through local stores. Or your library. Or tried out the e-library options. Or maybe, you've learned what you have in your life to be grateful for. I think if we think about it, there is SOMETHING good we've learned or experienced this year. Something can be GOOD even if we don't want to do it again - it can be GOOD to try something new - and find out it wasn't as great as we thought. So, for this swap, tell your partner AT LEAST ONE GOOD THING YOU'VE LEARNED THIS YEAR. That's it - just one. If you want to want to list everything, please feel free. But for the swap, you are only required to list ONE PERSONAL good part of 2020. This should be something about you or your life, not that the water in Venice ran clear for the first time in so many years (although, that is a GOOD thing!) This should be something about you, your life, your experiences. (And saying it's over doesn't cut it- think of something else! Or that the US election is finally over - for now. haha) This will be an SNAIL MAIL swap, International, and you'll have 1 partner. There is also an EMAIL version posted in the group. For an example, my friend has said for years that she'd LOVE to be able to stay home all day - that it would be wonderful to not have to jump up and get ready for work and drive in and deal with people all day. Well, this year she had to work from home for 4 weeks and by the end of the first week, she was talking about how she missed listening to a podcast on her way to work, and chatting with her co-workers, etc, and begged to go back to the office. IT might not seem like a GOOD thing, but she has learned that she actually DOES enjoy going in to work, and the routine she'd developed for that. OK, make sense to everyone? If you'd like to list items below you'd like to share, please feel free. I probably won't see comments left below until I assign partners, but share if you'd like to. :) If you have any questions for me please send me a PM and I'll reply as soon as I can. :) And, to be clear - I don't want to live through this year again, either. But it hasn't been ALL bad. |
