I enjoy playing x-slips (if you don´t know what they are, see below), but oftentimes it´s hard to find ones for the exact items I´d most love to receive. The purpose of this swap is to create some new x-slips for our partners, have some made for us, and get them all circulating. This swap is for paper x-slips and is USA only; see also Custom Made Exchange Slips International. If there is interest, I may create a swap for electronic slips. When you sign up for this swap, please list in the comments at least 5 different items that you would like to be on exchange slips for. This step is considered part of the sign-up process for this swap, and if you have not done this by the time partners are assigned, you will be dropped from the swap. When you find out who your assigned partners are, you will refer to their preferences to create at least 3 different x-slips for each one, with that partner´s names as the first one on the slip. Put yourself as the second person, or use the name and address of another swapper of yours who would like to receive that item. (Of course, be sure that the other swapper is aware that you are doing this and approves.) Once the slips have been created, make several copies of each. Mail at least 6 different slips to each partner, making sure not to send anyone a slip with his/her own name on it. For example: I make slips for Anne, Betty, and Charlotte. I send Charlotte the slips that have the names of Anne and Betty, I send Betty the slips for Anne and Charlotte; I send Anne the ones for Betty and Charlotte. When you receive the slips from your partners, rate them. Then, play the slips—or not, as you desire—and make sure they get passed on to another swapper in a timely manner so that they may be effectively used and enjoyed. Make sure you know ahead of time of other swappers you will be able to send these to; if you do not, please do not sign up here. Newbies with well-filled-out profiles and at least 5 type-2 swaps successfully completed and rated will be admitted. I reserve the right, however, to ban anyone whom I deem "iffy" for any reason. If your rating average is below 9.8, for example, or you have a recent 1 or 3, you might want to message me before or right after you sign up, explaining why I should keep you in the swap and explicitly committing to completing this one satisfactorily. In summary: 1.- Write a comment with your preferences. 2.- Make x-slips for your partners. 3.- Mail x-slips to your parnters. 4.- Rate your partners for sending you their slips. 5.- Play slips you received (optional) and pass all slips on to other swappers outside of this swap. What are exchange slips? X-slips are a decades-old (waaay before the Internet) method of postal mail swapping of many diverse mailable items. They are small slips of paper on which are written the addresses (usually 2 or 3) of people who would like to receive a certain item, such as postcards, bookmarks, etc. One sends the mentioned item to the first address on the list, crosses that name off, then adds one´s own address at the bottom and passes them on. This description of exchange slips is included as a courtesy to those who are unfamiliar with them, but please do not sign up for this swap if you are a complete x-slip newbie. If you have never received or played any x-slips but think you might like them, message me and I will be glad to send you a few to try. |
