Description:

I am inspired to make some natural art!*. Mail-art and botanicals sound fun!! πŸ‚πŸπŸ„The idea of making eco-arts came from my friend Annette Green, who created a field notes journal using prints she and her daughter made as a rainy day project. They went all-out by using sliced fruits and vegetables, plus a whole bouquet of flowers. I will NOT be doing this, but if you’re interested in seeing ONE METHOD of eco-printing art, her video is https://youtu.be/snztNWFzQXI πŸŒΎπŸŒΏπŸ’

WHAT IS ECO PRINTING YOU ASK??

New Hobby Box describes it this way: "Eco printing goes by many names and can be done in many different ways. At its root, eco printing refers to the act of directly applying plants to textiles to alter color, apply color and create interesting designs. β€œNatural dyeing” is a component, as everything used is natural, such as flowers, leaves, bark, bugs, roots etc. (ex. Cochineal beetles are used to dye things from paper to food with a crimson and carmine red color.) WE WILL NOT BE USING Creepy-crawling CRITTERS though!

SWAP Requirements:

-Create a unique piece of mail art for your partner. It can be a postcard, bookmark, envelope, etc. Finished product must be created by YOU, using organic matter such as fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, leaves, roots and bark.

I will β€œangel” but communication must be attempted and flakers rated in accordance to Swapbot rules FIRST.

PLZ NOTE: eco-art involves stamping, boiling, pressing, juicing, and/or pounding of organic matter, sometimes leaving behind small amounts of material like pollen or pulp.

Interesting swap idea. Can glue, modpodge or similar be used?

CookieMomster78 12/25/2019 #

@Catida YES! Absolutely! I intend on sealing my mail art with something like mod podge or fast finish decoupage. It’s simply the art that is made using some sort of β€œorganic” matter...ideas include: coffee grounds paintings, leaf rubbings, batik dying, or potato-stamped designs! Use whatever you like πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‰
