20 for 20 unmounted rubber stamps swap

Hi Kimi - where is a good source for cheap, unmounted stamps - I find at the least the unmounted ones I see are a dollar to three dollars?

What am I missing? Where do we find bargains like this [grab bag, etc?]

To answer you Skippy, you should do a search for unmounted rubber stamps on the www and see what you come up with. I have been collecting um's for years and so mine have come from a variety of sources. I haven't looked for any in quite a long time, cause I have so many already. But I have a stash of some that I don't use and want to swap out for hopefully some that I will! You're welcome!

SkippyMom: I get them at rubber stamp shows. I usually buy a few grab bags just for the surprise element. If you do an Internet search for unmounted rubber stamps you'll get tons of hits. And if there's a stamp store near you, check with them.

I am really glad we are doing this swap again, because I STILL have tons of duplicates, and I had so much fun with the last one. I really like the stamps I received.

How do you guys use your stamps?

I have the wood blocks and rubber cement thing going.... but I hear you can use clear acrylic blocks for easier placement. Have any of you guys tried that, and if you have, where do you get the acrylic, and what do you use to mount the stamps temporarily?

I use the acrylic blocks, and I have used different ways to hold the stamps on. There are products you can buy to make the stick, but it's another expense! The thing I use now is glue stick!It holds the stamps in place, and you can change them up to 3 or 4 times before the glue dries! It's easy to wash off as well, just throw the stamps in a bowl of water and rub the glue off. You can find acrylic blocks at a stamp store, joanns carries them too, and well as Michaels and hobby lobby. Your best bet is to get them online. You can get beginner sets with a variety of sizes for a reasonable price.

I use acrylic blocks and double-stick tape (Scotch makes it; they carry it at Walmart in the office supply aisle). The tape will last a long time before you have to replace it.

I just started another 20 for 20 rubber stamp swap in case anyone is interested. Sign up date is Jan 25, mail date is Jan 31. It's great to sign up again, because you can send any images that you received that maybe weren't your taste or possibly was a duplicate of some you already own.

BTW...I use Aleene's tack it over and over on the back of my stamps-OR Mono Adhesive-which comes in a green and white bottle that has two ends. One end is a fine tip and the other a "spreader" which works great when spreading out the glue on the back of the stamp. Add a thin layer, let it dry (12-24 hours depending on thickness) and then attach over and over on clear blocks. I use this on stamps that I use a lot. On stamps that I don't use often, I use the previous mentioned ways of attaching...either double stick tape or glue stick. There is another product out there that is a little spendy that comes in sheet form that you put on your acrylic block and it allows you to stick images over and over (I can't remember what it's called) Gotta find out what works best for you! Hey you guys, thanks for all the great tips on mounting the stamps! Do you guys use padding on anything? I have one friend who is unmounting all of her mounted stamps and putting them onto padding, then using them with the acrylic blocks. Do I need to bother? I know my wooden handles have padding on them already. It just seems like so much WORK to pad all of the UM stamps, that kinda takes the fun out of them, and putting the padding on the acrylic block will obviously defeat the purpose...

I don't pad mine; I use a sheet of Fun Foam underneath the item I'm stamping. :)
