Fun Filled Altered Oats Crafty Can!or "FFAOCC" :D I had the idea for this swap after Mr Gem finished off a box of oatmeal - the kind in the paperboard canister? and I was wondering what to use the can for ... I wanted to do some kinda fill-swap, so: Think along the lines of a Whimsey Jar or Matchbox Fill - just on a bigger scale! Here's the breaky-downy:
Each participant will post THREE themes they like in this swap thread.
Once partners are assigned, everyone will then take one empty, and CLEAN paperboard oatmeal canister (approx 7x4 in / 18x10 cm or 18 oz / 510 g in size) with lid, and decorate the outside (paint it, cover it with paper, turn it into a tote of some kind! Whatever!), then fill it up with art, craft and goodie items based on one or more of your partner's posted themes, and their profile. Be creative! You can choose one theme and run with that, or mix n match between all three ... Make it fun, and something you yourself would enjoy receiving. Not everything has to be storebought! You can destash your own supplies, handmake some things, do the dollar store or thrift shop route, but do be aware of any potential allergy or other issues in your partner's profile. If you need a set dollar amount we can go with a $20 US limit (max), before shipping. VERY IMPORTANT! Please take care when packaging your can for mailing - while they are not as breakable as jars, they can still be crushed if they aren't sturdily packed, and you don't want to spend all that time making a fabulous container only to have it arrive mushed up and the contents possibly ruined as well. Same goes for the items inside ... try to place the items securely in the canister, using tissue or other packing material to fill any gaps. Wrap stuff individually if you'd like. Now, I don't generally host too many public swaps, but when I do I try to make them unique, interesting and really want everyone to have a great time both making and receiving, so I absolutely expect your best effort put into them. I also am a very involved host and DO read profiles, DO check your ratings and CAN wield a mean BanHammer (to borrow a term from the wonderful Suzanne) Hosting this one is a way for me to get my 2009 swaps off to a kickass start. Ya have a month to sign up, then 6 weeks to make & send - plennnnty of time to chow down on some oatmeal and get that can emptied! OM NOM! Lemme know if I missed any pertinent info or if you need something clarified. |
