Disclaimer:This looks like a lot of instructions but really it's EASY PEASY, I just write a lot. Are you a thrift store junkie? Instead of visions of sugar plums dancing in your head for Xmas, is your noggin filled with visions of kitschy knick knacks, that one perfect bowl, or a bag of old buttons? No one understands us but other thrift store junkies, so you know what those other people will give you--a mini-flashlight and some awful candy canes. Well, this is your chance to get your fix, and also to have fun choosing goodies for a fellow thrift store comrade. For this swap you will choose at least 3 goodies for your partner (it can be more), and spend no more than $10, which is quite a bit in thrift store money. You don't have to spend all $10, just don't spend more. After you join the swap, go to your PROFILE and make a special THRIFT STORE WISH LIST. I think that's easier than posting it here and everyone having to scroll through to try and find your partner. Try to be specific but give a lot of options. And pick small things so postage won't be exhorbitant. You can order some free priority boxes from the U.S. post office that are a good size for this swap, just go to www.usps.com and click on the order supplies link about halfway down the page. You can pick whatever box you want, but for a 4x4-inch chunky book swap I hosted, I used the box #0-1096L, which is the large video box. I am making this swap international because I can't resist seeing what people could send from across the pond. So here's an example of what you might list (these will be on MY list): Dog figurine - quirky, not Hummel. older the better. Tiny vase for plant cuttings- less than 4" tall, glass or ceramic. Character drinking glass - esp. Curious George or Peanuts or Warner Bros, love the jelly jars. Small photo albums for 4 x 6 or smaller Quirky old language reference books, esp. on slang or foreign terms (obviously paperback and small size). condition not an issue, it can be falling apart. Ribbon for sewing - not paper ribbon for wrapping gifts. Cereal bowl with some pattern or interesting design, not just a brown ring around the inside. So do you get the idea? I'm making the mailing deadline late for this because I don't think it matters whether it gets there exactly before Xmas or a few days after. I don't like to add stress to the holidays, just fun activities. If this is popular, maybe I'll make it a regular swap, not just for Xmas. Any questions, PM me. Rating must be at least 4.9 and no NO SENDS in the last six months. Newbies may be okay, PM me first. Have fun! Carrie |
