MIDSUMMER / SUMMER SOLSTICE / LITHA: June 21, 2017

Held on the longest day of the year, the Solstice is the celebration of light’s triumph over darkness and that of the bountiful beauty that light brings into life. The Sun God is at his strongest – he is also the Forest God – he is more commonly known as the Green Man. For those who follow Faerie Magick, this is an especially meaningful event as it is said that all the faeries come out to celebrate this day with all the creatures of the forest. An elaborate feast is held with endless goblets of ale, festive music and dancing. If you’re familiar with faerie lore, you won’t be surprised to learn that these Summer Solstice parties are clothing optional and last until the wee hours of the following morning. Shakespeare centered his faerie-packed tale of love and trickery, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, around this mystical day. Flowers are common in the circle, roses and bright cheerful wildflowers are upon the altar and usually worn by all. Litha’s usual food may include honey-cakes or cornbread. Litha is not celebrated by all sects nor in the same way. In the past, bonfires were leapt to encourage fertility, purification, health and love. Midsummer is a classic time for magick of all kinds.

For this swap, you will pick 3 items from the list below and send to your partner. You must pick 3, separate items and may not send duplicates of any item. All items must be in excellent condition, whether store-bought or hand-made. Please only send items you would love to receive yourself. If you send your partner any dirty items, broken crystals, stale herbs, etc., your partner has the right to rate you down for not following swap requirements. Please remember that this is a swap honoring one of the most important Sabbats behind Yule, and that you are sending this package with love and blessings for your partner to use during the Solstice. It may help to look at your partner's profile for help on what she likes. Please try to avoid blatant dislikes stated on your partner's profile, and be aware of allergies. Do not join this swap if you cannot commit to sending nice items on time.

~A brightly -colored altar cloth

~A Litha-themed recipe, nicely written on an index card

~A PC or ATC depicting a bee, butterfly, snake, wren or relevant animal

~A blue, green, yellow, orange, red or other brightly colored candle (if sending tea-lights, you must send at minimum 3 tea lights)

~Any artwork, PC, ATC depicting any of the Litha deities or faeries.

~3 packets of herbal tea

~3 packets of seeds

~ Any of the following herbs, sealed in a small bag: mugwort, vervain, chamomile, rose, honeysuckle, lily, oak, lavender,ivy, yarrow, fern, elder, wild thyme, daisy or carnation

~An amber, tiger's eye, jade, emerald or Litha-themed crystal, no smaller than a dime

~Any of the following incense, loose or stick: sage, cedar, frankincense, lemon, myrrh, pine, rose or lavender

~A Litha-themed spell or ritual, nicely printed on an index card/card stock

~Dried, pressed flowers for your partner's altar

~Any altar item representing the green man, faeire, deity, etc.

Sending late will cause your partner to receive items that she cannot use as the Sabbat will have passed. Flaking on a swap will result in your automatic suspension from the group. Please package your items with care so that they do not break in transit. Have fun and message me with any concerns.
