MOMMA: Zines

I’m late to the party I know, but let’s make some zines. I found a tutorial that really inspired me to make a few. It will be so easy to mail and because you photo copy it, it would not really matter how many partners you have, just make more copies! So here is what you need to know:

Using her techniques make a zine with a 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper, using any theme you want and send copies to two partners (but if you want others to send you one of their zines, then say so in the comments below ~~ No need to include your address below, it should be listed in our forums for this group). You will not be required to send others copies and will not be rated on it, but it would be fun to see the work of others in person. Besides, that is the philosophy of zines, to self-publish our art.

Each zine you make should have at least the following:

• At least one cutout pic from a magazine

• Washi tape

• Splashes of Color – paint, or any other way of getting color on your paper

• Scrapbook paper scraps

• Handwriting – your own handwriting

Plus anything else you want to add. You don’t have to start with a white background like the tutorial does, but can use scrapbook paper or anything else you want.

Remember, the original does not need to be folded, it is for photocopying only. So you can use heavy paper for painting and creating, then just fold the copies.
